Default Eat as much as you want and lose weight

I've actually been doing this. I hadn't read it. I just wanted to see how long I could go without eating fast food. This leaves me cooking steak and things like that a lot. I've actually found I can cook a steak in just as fast as I could hop in the truck, drive to whataburger, and get back home. Steak's cheaper too! I've shed three lbs. I'm down to 188@6foot. If I could get to 180 I might just be able to run good enough for a marathon again. Anyway this is a great diet. Steak, fish, chicken, eggs. Lots of protein which is something most diets lack.

Sorry to tell you, but atkins is a horrible diet. It may have you shedding a few pounds, but it is not healthy. Yes, protein can be good, but eating lots of foods high in fat is not. Not to mention the fact that all of that protein causes constipation. Not good for your intestines or colon. Dr. Atkins himself died from a heart attack. Carbs are not bad, you just need to learn to eat complex carbs such as whole wheat bread and pasta. And learn to not pig out on carbs, especially on things like cookies or chips. I know a lot of people who have gone on it and lost a few pounds but then end up gaining it back cause they can't stick to the diet. Learn to eat a more well-rounded diet and exercise as often as you can.

It is much better than staying 200 pound overweight. Even Dr. Atkins did not say you should stay in Ketosis by eating only Protein, but he was vehemently oppose to high fructose corn syrup and white sugar and rice.

No, he hit his head and died after a coma.

Do Atkins to get to your target and then adopt a healthier diet.

Southbeach is a much more balanced diet and it works. You cut out the refined carbs and heavy starches but can eat reasonable amounts of whole grains and so forth. The first two weeks are the hardest, since they are spent more or less "weaning" your body from the excessive carbs. High fat foods are discouraged.

What a load of B.S. Atkins slipped and fell on an icy NY street. He hit his head and died from complications during hospitalization.

Don't post crap.

His heart failure could have been related to his diet. High intake levels of red meat have been shown to lead to heart disease, so very well could have been linked. Also knew a guy that tried a strict high protein diet, and after three years of it died of a heart attack. Just my two cents.
