Health Questions
Hello everyone,
Currently in college as an aviation management major, going into my junior year now. But goal is to go into the airlines after to fly.
Obtained my pilots license August 2014 and now finishing up my Instrument rating, and loving it.
Just have a few questions regarding health. Since I was born I have had a benign heart murmur, I have had tests with a cardiologist about two years ago before playing junior hockey. The results were great, there is nothing there but a slight murmur, no other issues contributing.
Second, I currently take acne medicine ( Bactrim DS), it is only temporary.
I have read though that murmurs are iffy, and Bactrim DS is only approved on a case by case basis. Although I am still doing some research.
Just curious if anyone has any knowledge in these areas that has any information as to what I should do.
Thanks,
Zack

recommend joining AOPA and using they aerospace medicine consultation service.
You do not want to go to an AME unless you know the answers/problems/showstoppers in advance.
AOPA will tell you EXACTLY how to proceed to obtain your FAA medical In the least amount of time, at the least cost.
Do NOT schedule an FAA medical exam without knowing what the AME needs to issue a medical.
