Exclamation MUCINEX D and PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG TESTING

Good Evening,

I was recently hired at my new 121 company.
Yesterday was my first day of INDOC and we had to take our drug testing.

I had a cold the week before and I was on MUCINEX D for 3 days. The dose what was what was suggested on the box. 2 pills every 12 hrs.

I am not familiar with USA medication, I am italian and in my country if a medication contains something dangerous or drug it cannot be sold or can it be sold under restricted prescription.

I was advise a few minutes ago from my wife that MUCINEX D may show up on a DOT DRUG TESTING as PTC or amphetamine.

What should I do know?
I am feeling like a complete idiot. I did read the back of the mucinex d for side effect etc. and that It may cause a POSIVE false Result in a drug test was not mention at all...

Sorry for the word... but... AM I ****???

thanks...

A

Mucinex D contains the following ingredients:

Guaifenesin 1200 mg and Pseudoephedrine HCl 120 mg

Pseudoephedrine can cause a false positive on an initial drug screening test (immunoassay.)

All DOT samples are tested using Gas Chromotography and Mass Spectometry. This method can distinguish between pseudoephedrine and amphetamine/methamphetamine metabolites.

I personally would not worry, assuming it is a DOT test.

Thanks for your answer;

it is a DOT test.

Should I call the Medical exam facility tomorrow or/and speak to my manager about the situation or should I wait to hear from them?

There are rare cases where overdoses or long term usage of it has caused kidney stones. I would recommend based off some history with it, to not try over 4. So ya it's possible to use it in combo with something else, but it's not ideal.

The drug lab medical officer will call you if necessary (unlikely.) I would not call them.

I would only mention it to the manager if they call you in to the office and bring it up.
