Hah, you're right. I have no idea what I'm talking about, and likewise, don't know anyone who commutes now to avoid reserve even though they live in one of our crew bases.
Again, not throwing shade at anyone who is lucky enough to avoid upgrading into reserve, but that has most DEFINITELY not been the case for quite a few people. But people are saying it’s going to be 2 years reserve when you upgrade and that’s not likely the case unless you decide to stay at a senior base. |

All I’m trying to say is things aren’t as bad here as people make it seem. I know reserve sucks and commuting sucks but living in base isn’t that bad if you can sit at home on reserve and if you’re commuting to a line it’s not terrible. Nobody will ever argue Commuting to reserve doesn’t blow.

I was Senior Manned into upgrade as a two year FO, and Spent six Months on reserve in Dayton before I transferred to CVG for July and just barely got a round one line. Here are the current most junior pilots as of July 2019 to hold a round one line in each base (keep in mind this is just a snapshot in time). CLT: FO-1.27 years, CA-4.33 years CVG: FO-9.2 months, CA-2.53 years DAY: FO-10.1 months, CA-2.68 years DCA: FO-1.11 years, CA-2.49 years ORF: FO-10.1 months, CA-2.45 years PHL: FO-1.07 years, CA-4.07 years TYS: FO-11 months, CA- 4.1 years |

First of all I didn’t realize my phone made those emojis it should have been a male guy shrug only * haha
Second of all I am going straight to a build up line when I upgrade, (which is very soon ) round 1 will be very shortly thereafter, within 3 months or so. Good try though! 😂 |

It is important to note though that if we keep hiring and upgrading like we have been without getting more flying then the only result is more pilots on reserve which equates to longer reserve times.

That’s wonderful to hear for you!! How much mil leave did you drop? Or how impoverished were you for SAPing down like that?
I could have bid reserve and worked even less but I’m a commuter so I didn’t. |

Yes I agree, we definitely need to do something about the growing reserve times and better reserve rules. No doubt about that. Going back to my earlier points, I don’t think PBS is the solution, or is worth giving up the SAP for. I know this wasn’t the point you were making but figured I’d say it for continuity sake

Oh absolutely, if we give up SAP then places like Spirit and JetBlue are gonna start looking pretty appealing.
