Interview questions regarding study materials
Appreciate your time answering some of my questions I have regarding the study materials I've been send.
1) ILS or LOC 36C:
a) CAT II Inner Marker GS 809', however DA is 807'. Is there any reason? IM's on a CAT II usually indicates DA. Is this just advisory in nature since it's only 2 feet difference?
b) Holding entry TOMME. Can do either parallel or teardrop. FMS in my long ago experience usually prefers a teardrop entry in this case. Why is that?
c) Under what circumstances would you fly the alternate holding procedure? I don't recall ever doing so?
d) LOC 36C. GLASI to MAP 5.4 distance. Is that just for situational awareness and an RNAV/GPS distance? Because It is NOT a DME distance. I don't think it identifies the MAP. The MAP is identified by timing, in this case 2:19 at 140 knots?
d) LOC 36C VDP. I believe it to be time based in this case and is 1:41 as I can't use the distance of 1.4.Nm because I'm not receiving DME distance from the LOC. Is my thinking correct? I don't see a "D" in the LOC identifier box. Only DME's on this approach are from the CLT VOR/DME?
e) LOC 36C. Why is there a box with recommended altitudes at difference CLT VOR DME miles? On the approach, does the pilot monitoring call them out? I've never seen this before and thought that if I fly the LOC using a 700 ft/min descent I pretty much hit all those altitudes?
2) PARQR 2 RNAV ARRIVAL:
When receiving a "descend via" clearance, I'm to fly the lateral portion, speed and altitudes.
a) When I receive a clearance that sounds like "Blue Streak 1234 fly direct SUZNN, join the PARQR2 arrival" And I'm flying @ 290kts and FL240. Does that mean I need to slow to 270 knots, but maintain FL240 until I reach PARQR? And then slow to 250knots but still maintain FL240 until I hear "descent via"??
3) CLT 10-9A
a) Take-off RWY 18L. All equipment working. Lowest RVR I can T/O in is 5/5/5 as long as I have at least 2 operating RVR's, but will need a T/O alternate correct?
4) Do you really use derived alternate minimum when the back of 10-9A shows a table "For filing as an alternate"?
Thanks everyone, I know that's a lot!

a) inner marker is only required when RA is not available on a CAT II
b) teardrop preferred to better keep you on protected side of hold / on inbound course in case of winds.
c) alternate holds are in case the primary navaid to identify a holding fix is inop
d) you can use a DME VDP as long as there is a DME source, in this case the VOR
e) recommended altitudes are just that- recommended. It is also recommended that PM tells you them as you fly the approach for SA

a) stay at 240 and be at 270 by SUZNN. Don’t descend until you are told to but keep meeting the speeds.
3
a) yes

”for filing as an alternate” stuff you can ignore in the 121 world as we use derived minimums.
