Not much out there on this. Hoping it's just a slowdown in hiring opposed to a full stop at worst !!!

As of earlier today PSA was still planning to have classes in the rest of July and August, they hadn't finalized the class sizes though.

How recent is your experience?

With the time, you would have thought you could have gotten picked up at a legacy airline a year ago. Why wait a year and go to a crummy regional now?

Dude... chill!!! Maybe they had family commitments that superseded going back to work for an airline... maybe they're not interested in working for a legacy. Maybe, with that kind of time, they've become soured with the airline biz for one reason, or another. Regardless, it's none of our business why they chose to go to some "crummy regional" now.

Easy- more $ in onlyfans and creators don't have to deal with people in person....

How long is the wait between CRB and ATP CTP + class dates? Got mine tomorrow morning

aviatorict 07-12-2024 07:37 PM

Did anyone who did CRB yesterday get a class date? I only got a CJO saying “TBD”

Aviator Joe 07-16-2024 09:40 PM

See you in class. I have the same start date.

Njflyguy 07-17-2024 10:56 AM

No idea. I'm with PDT, but we share the AA CLT training center with PSA.

aviatorict 07-20-2024 03:39 PM

I’m hearing of significantly reduced class sizes effective immediately

PSA is currently overstaffed and there is virtually no attrition other than failures in new hire training right now. No one is hiring and likely won't for at least the rest of 2024 and well into 2025.

Combine this with several hundred pilots far more qualified than PSA pilots that are entering the job market. Military pilots, for one, but also the involuntarily displaced (FedEx, Spirit, JetBlue, etc...). These will be the first ones hired once things start back up again, not regional pilots.

The big wave has past and we are left with the downturn on the backside. There will be a few more swells after this, but it won't be like this big wave again.

oilmoney67 07-30-2024 11:06 AM

So with PSA announcing voluntary leaves of absences, I would assume that classes will be paused but it seems as if hiring is continuing as normal. Are these voluntary LOA's directed to captians?

I am a mil guy waiting on a 12 Aug class date. Hoping that it does not get cancelled or kicked down the road further. Anyone else in an August class have any insight? Last I spoke to the training department they said that they have not been told of class cancellations

First I heard of those airlines displacing their pilots to a regional.. did I miss something? I saw NK was furloughing a few FO, but never heard that Fedex and B6 were going to displace pilots?

He’s being disingenuous. At B6 they are displacing pilots, but that’s because the E190s are being retired over the next year. Quite a few of the junior captains on the RJ have as little as 18-24 months on property, so they obviously can’t hold bus captain and are getting kicked back to the right seat of the A220/A320. None of those pilots are going to leave and start over at a regional lol

Hello. Any truth to all training being moved to CLT as of this month?

PSA FB post on 11/7/24 is showing a pilot new hire class. I counted 20 heads. Ramping up for 2025 attrition/new planes?

Two of the guys in that class were in CTP with me in September, both CJO’s from the cadet program in the Spring of 2024. Can’t speak to the size of the class, but they had it lined up way before things slowed down.

ACAIBOWL 11-28-2024 06:30 AM

has anyone heard anything about class dates lately?

FozzieBeer 12-01-2024 07:23 AM

Got a CJO in June, just got a class date of Dec 30.

Are you a cadet? Do you mind sharing your total time/experience?

FozzieBeer 12-01-2024 02:01 PM

Not a cadet. When I was given the CJO I met restricted ATP mins. Im currently a CFI.

oilmoney67 12-04-2024 02:10 PM

Several classes are currently in the training center. Between the classes should be close to 65 new FO’s, with another class to start before Christmas is the rumor.
