Anyone know the training schedule during the Holidays?

I am in the Dec 22nd class and have been told to expect full days on 22-24, then off 25-28, and then Mon-Fri schedule including full days on 31st and 1st.

Anyone hear otherwise?

Psa will be ok. There will always be enough applicants. They, like all the regionals, just need to get enough people through the door so they are already stuck in this career field when the music stops again.

When do you expect the music to stop? 6 months? A year?

How many aircraft are you adding per month now?

We have the staff for probably 80-90 acft right now if you include pilots in training.

We only have ~60, with 3 arriving per month.

They have been proactive with the hiring. Hopefully it puts us in a good position to staff the 126 acft we are supposed to end up with by 2016.

There are other shops right now that most likely offer a faster upgrade so that will probably hurt our recruiting at least a little. Especially considering that the SSP is pretty much a non factor for anyone hired right now unless they significantly increase how many they take per month.

Upgrades at PSA are down to march 2014, where is it faster than that?

I heard TSA might be hiring captains OTS. Is that better than March 2014?

I think those are CQFOs, which means sitting left seat only when they need you to. Beats first year FO pay for sure though.

First thing's first though, who many of the current TSA aircraft are staying on property as the new ones arrive?

I haven't talked to one person who came here for the "flow." Upgrades and SAP are the tickets, not the 4/month interview opportunity.

A pilot hired today at PSA will not have an 8 month upgrade.

Those guys got in at exactly the right time and already had the 1000 SIC requirement covered. As time wears on all the guys getting bypassed due to the 1000 rule will have the required time.

There will still be quite a few guys that will enjoy a very fast upgrade, but they are already hired and flying the line, someone hired right now is not one of them.

It'll probably be a while. Right now there's attrition at the majors, predicted to increase, the DOW is at 17000, and oil is dropping. But a lot can happen in 5 years.

The regionals are a stepping stone but for many, it will still be a 5-10 year stepping stone. For some it might have to turn into a career, and hopefully you have a good contract and aren't next on the whipsaw.
