Does anyone know what the details of a DEC at PSA are? Pay, training, junior bases etc...

Pay I've heard is FO pay during training then CA pay after passing your check ride. Haven't heard how long DEC CA training but I would imagine at least as long as FO, maybe (hopefully) longer and more thorough. So you're looking at at least 6 weeks of Indoc, systems, and IPTs. Then 2 weeks of Sims then 2 days of differences ground then 2 days of differences sims. With the temporary halt of FO training you can expect to go straight through with absolute minimal time between modules.

Junior bases are Knoxville and Dayton with Dayton being slightly more junior but I tends to swing back and forth. F we open a new base (Nashville is the most often mentioned rumor), it will likely go most junior. The earliest we an expect to see that though is late fall.

Oh great. It's another useless PSA thread that will get bombarded with certain hate.

Pay is FO pay until check ride with 24/7 per diem. The training footprint is estimated at 13 weeks, but that is fluid. I was told DEC's could hold any base, just depends on how long you want to be on reserve.

I don't see DEC's holding Charlotte for a long time. Too many prior 121 people still in the pipeline plus in a couple of months you'll start having the wave of early new hires hitting their thousand hours. The vast majority of these senior people will take all the CLT spots available keeping street captains out.

They will be able to hold CLT because the company will continue to run captain vacancies of 25 pilots knowing that they will never be able to fulfill that with our FOs

As much as we keep saying we are in complete need of captains, the last vacancy was only 10. Down from the usual 16. So I'm kinda curious how badly we are needing them now. The slower 700 transfer was a huge help and it's barely been a month since that announcement.

Do y'all have a vacancy that is open right now? If so, when does that one close?

I tend to agree with your assessment but this new bid that closes in a few days will be telling. It's Charlotte only and I am curious how many FO's actually upgrade vs. pilots moving from DAY or TYS.

We pay new FO's min guarantee from day one so yes. Plus per diem. Not sure if that is answering your question though.

My money is on 7 TYS/DAY CAs awarded CLT with 7 FOs upgrading into their TYS/DAY slots and 3 FOs upgrading directly into CLT.

I've felt better flying with the new captains than I have the super senior guys. The new guys are still making sure they are covering everything, crossing every t and dotting the i's. The senior guys think they already know it all and it seems like I do more work cleaning up after them.

I feel better after a 12 pack.

Wouldn't there need to be a new bid for TYS/DAY?

Someone has already posted this same thing. And pilots here have been using that for years. You're a little late to the party. But continue to try to instigate with used up material.

Looks like you and your buddies over at SKW are closer to putting one into the ground then the folks at PSA. Might want to check yourself.

No, that gets backfilled by the guys that bid upgrade in CLT but couldn't get it.

Example: 5 guys upgraded a month ago. Their bid was CLT/TYS/DAY. They are awarded TYS. A new bid comes out for 5 CLT CAs. 5 new upgrades also bid CLT/TYS/DAY. The old class from a month ago all get awarded CLT while the new class backfill their spots in TYS.

This is over-simplified but is essentially how it works.

Word is on the street they are taking only folks with previous time on type.

More specifically more Time on same airplane. Envoy pilots get priority to fly there own airplane.

Yep. I was in class with one and have flown with another.

Soon we'll have former envoy captains flying with former envoy fo's here at PSA. We're practically merged right now. I can't wait until its official!

If AA decides to merge envoy and psa, does that mean the new psa company will still be back stabbers?
