QOL Question

What would be a better quality of life: a commute with 7 non-stops (each way)per day on company equipment....... and a typical regional schedule 11 days off per month.

OR

A commute on company equipment with one non-stop (each way) per day.... to base early and back late..... but with much better schedule flexibility due to SAP?

That all sounds just awful. Which would get you a line the quickest? Commuting to reserve sucks.

flyguy2015 03-27-2017 01:26 PM

Currently reserve is very short (One month after IOE)for the company with fewer commuting options.

Think the other would be relatively short as well.

If you're commuting, take the 7 nonstops. If you go to Airline B, 1 cancelation is going to cause you to miss days at home. Stack the deck in your favor.

Edit: Also only 1 nonstop a day might not satisfy your company's commuter policy. You may have to come in a day early.

With just one flight a day you can plan on not getting the jump seat due to lack of seniority or being overweight for fuel occasionally.

Commuter policy is usually two tries before you can use it. So the one flight a day would not work. Also during the holidays or anytime really, only having one option to get home is not ideal.

As the others have said, with the standard commuting clause found at most regionals, one leg a day to your base would not work. If you chose PSA for the SAP, you would be required to come to base the day prior to starting work every trip.

Whats the airline you're weighing against PSA?

Or use two leg commute options as the backup on the same day... if those are available.

Yes that would be the plan....... 2, two leg commute options for backup both leave within 30 minutes of the early a.m. nonstop to DCA.

So the crazy question is, "why not base in DC?"
