Most regionals don't make 5 day trips. You can bid lines or PBS a 4 day with a 2 day right after. But that solidly depends on that particular airlines PBS and/or line construction.

7 day trips are illegal unless you have a 30 hr layover on the sixth day. Most overnights are 11-16 hours. At XJT we had a few 18 hours and I had one 43 hour layover on Christmas.

You don't want to work 6/7 day trips at regionals, especially mom & pop mentally ones. You'll spent an HUGE amount of time doing airport appreciation or multiple DHs to a sit...

A 7 day trip doesn't require a 30 hour sit on the 6th day. It requires a 30 hour sit at some point. I prefer 5 day trips where I work. Easier to commute (meaning fewer commutes to work) and they pay more (25 hour min, versus 4 hours/day)

Along the lines of the original poster and interested in a similar type schedule -previous job I worked 14/14 -

What can you legally do with 117? - still learning the ropes here, yes I can read the FAR I mean from a strategy point of view. For example - a 4 day with an early start/end followed by a 3 day with a late start ? then yes, it would be nice to stay home for more than two days (commuting for now...). Trying to figure out strategies to maximize number of days home in a row.

Thanks

They happen all the time in the company you work for. 30+ hour overnights in various cities.

I guess at the regional level layovers greater than like 16-18 hours are pretty hard to come by. They happen but not as much as the 12-14 hour layovers

Strategy wise. On day 6/6!you call out fatigued. They have to put you into a hotel. Now you're into day 7 which is a DH only day. So you're pay protected for the min day plus You get a day off. Only way I figured to best 117. Anyone else got a better way?

Nice !

I would really like to try and do 1000 hours in 10 months and take two months off - any success stories ?

Doesn't work that way any more. It's a rolling time period now, not a calendar year.

With 117 you can do a 7 day trip as long as the 7th duty day starts less than 168 hours after your last 30 hour rest period. I have traded into 7 day sequences under 117

Wrong. It would have to FINISH before you hit the 168 hour mall. You must be able to look back no more than 168 hours and see 30 hours free from duty. If you are counting on your company to keep you legal then.....

Can you set up a route to have 2 day trips? like two on 4 off 3 on 4 off? im building time and curious what to expect in the future. The only thing I don't like is 3 working days then 2 days off. almost like, whats the point of being off? can one schedule their month with 3 days on and 4 days off? Sorry if this has been asked in the past but im a noob to the airliner schedules and trying to learn as much as I can

I work at Skywest and usually bid two three day trips, and two four day trips. I usually have 4 days off between work blocks. If the month has 31 days, I will get a five day block off.
