Billyboy, we've been over this already. You sat at PDT for what, 20 years? You were waiting for the flow because no one else would hire you.. I've only been with AWA for 2 years, so I guess I have 18 more to go if I want to follow your example. :)

That doesn't really make sense, billy. I guess I shouldn't be surprised by your lack of reading comprehension skills at this point.
As for your second question, maybe everyone staying is following your example (yikes!). Today's goat could be tomorrow's winner, after all. Maybe I'll just sit at a regional for 15-20 years then get lucky with a flow to mainline. Then come back and troll the regional threads and pretend like I know everything about the industry and how to get hired at a major ;) |

Let me guess...... 5-6 years and still about 50 numbers from upgrade. Then if you do upgrade you'll be on reserve for about 2 years. Sweet..., that's sweet!!! And you were saying something about my career advise? lol continue little butterfly 😜 |

You do realize that people can come to Piedmont and upgrade as soon as they have 2,500 TT and 1,000 hours 121 time right? And the flow doesn't keep them from going to "United or the other majors", right? So yea keep waiting for your upgrade while everyone else builds PIC time FAST and applies to "United or the other majors" before they'll even look at your resume before throwing it out |

Now listen I understand you came into the industry during a more difficult time. But the simple truth is people were eventually hired into the majors while you sat at Piedmont for (about) 20 years, right? Is there something about that statement that isn't truthful? Why would anyone take your advice if you couldn't even get out of the regionals on your own? You are fortunate that the flow saved you from this mess after you sat around for a couple decades, but does that really make you an expert on getting hired at the majors? PS I already told you how long I've been at AWA. I don't know why you're so embarrassed about your career, that you'd start making up numbers. Really feeling sorry for you right now. :( |

He upgrades in less then a year! Gets his 1000hrs of PIC. Shut Gun resumes out! Gets calls from JetBlue, Spirit, even United! Even Delta if he finished his College in 4 years or less!
PEOPLE STOP THINKING THAT IF YOU GO TO A WO'ED YOU HAVE TO GO TO AMERICAN. It's idiotic thinking! |
Your back and forth is pretty obnoxious. Wish you would stop ****ing all over the place in multiple threads that have nothing to do with your stupid beef.
And SHJ, consistently going for the low-hanging fruit with the non-stop ad homs makes your argumentative intellect appear just as unimpressive as what you're trying to make Billy appear to be. Give it a rest. |

I'm using it exactly correctly. You highlight in red text his spelling/grammatical errors to draw a correlation between his communication skills and his credibility to be giving career advice. Go read a book.
PS: I've been making fun of billy's grammar for a long time now. It's kinda hard not to. Try to ignore it if it bothers you. |

But let's be honest here. You and I both know that you didn't get around to asking about Billy's career this one particular time, in this one particular thread, because you genuinely care about the quality of advice that other forum users receive from him. It's the same old schtick that I've seen between you two numerous times. He says something (crazy or not) and you bite every single time. Had you not popped in here playing grammar nazi, we probably wouldn't be doing this right now. And that is what is annoying. |

Most people have a first choice in Majors. Usually has to do with Bases and retirements. American has tons of retirements coming. Hell in just May we have 45 and that number is going to get higher and higher each month. If American is your first choice then the WO's might be the best avenue (unless of course you're a Military Pilot) |
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE JUST ANSWER THE ORIGINAL QUESTION??!
Break down the differences in the flows between the WO regionals. Go have these childish debates on Facebook or somewhere else. Seriously! |

No they're all the same you're going to be waiting years and years while your buddies at other non WO get in before you. AA alone is going to have like 600 retirements a year for the next 10 at least. By the time you flow 7 to 10 years later you'll be at the bottom of the hiring curve.

At the risk of sounding like a "cheerleader", any time I jumpseat on Republic, the conversation always turns to our flow. I don't initiate it, the Republic pilots do. And every single time, they say that they wish they had one so that they wouldn't have to jump through all these hoops to get on with a legacy. Take it for what it's worth...

Get some pic time, a college degree, a little volunteering, a few hours a month at your local food bank, soup kitchen is all you need. We all have connections at legacies.. use them. Help a friend's kid learn how to fly or get a mainline pilots kid im worn your company and mentor him..
Another benefit of the flow. Connections at mainline. Its already happening now but in a couple years when retirements go crazy more OTF pilots will get picked up. |

If American is your first choice then the WO's might be the best avenue (unless of course you're a Military Pilot) I live near Philly so PDT then AA is my first choice. Maybe United out of Newark would be my number two pick. I had to get 121 time somewhere. I need the 1000 hours SIC 121 time to upgrade. Then the PIC 121 time, which is the goal of all of us stuck in the regional quagmire. Once I get s few thousand hours of 121 PIC I might apply somewhere else. Nobody seems to care about the 11 years of single pilot, single engine 135 flying; whatever!! That's where I spent the post 911/2008 meltdown. Which is why I'm not counting on anything but death and taxes. I'm not sure what people can't understand about a quick upgrade and a flow?!???! But this is what works for me. I'm home when I get build up line with reserve days. I leave the house two hours before I report for work. Whatever PDT or AA has in Philly and I can hold I will fly. |

Alright, maybe I'm just being dense regarding AA flows or flows in general.
Getting ready to apply to Envoy. I'm not applying for the flow. I'm applying for the domiciles and the commute. Then industry reputation. Then the pay. Then, I guess, the flow. But I really don't even get the flow? If I'm chugging along in 4-5 years as a CA with Envoy, keeping my nose clean, etc....why not just apply to DL, AA, UAL etc. once I get competitive. Again not trying to be dumb, I've read these forums for probably 5 months now and doing my research to pick my regional. I just don't get why the flow matters and why people put so much value on it? Definitely I see value in a going with a WO though. |

Figure I'll be in LGA until I can figure a way to get into DFW......its going to be a two leg no doubt to LGA but I've got plenty of company metal options out of the Panhandle it seems like, plus other airline options. |
