I'm not saying they should have ridiculously low times, but why would a 600hour pilot be a sh*ttier pilot than a 1000hour pilot?
Will someone with 600TT/500ME be a better pilot than
someone with 1000TT/15ME ??
Ofcourse not, the only that MAY be better, but doesn't have to, would be ADM. But.....that's why you have to "high time" captain next to you for.....
And even HE is still prone to poor decision making...

If you are coming in with low time in the first round of hiring and mesaba grows like crazy, you better be prepared to be a low experience captain with a no time FO next to ya. The saab doesn't climb above the weather so you better know what you're getting yourself into, because the seat warmer next to you won't have a clue.

Excellent point. Wonder the airlines have factored that into hiring low time guys who readily admit its ok cuz i have this super experience captain sitting next to me so i dont really have to think.

So I guess you mean you should cancel 80% of your flights in the winter in the midwest...

Or redirect your route hundreds of miles around it and cost the company thousands of dollars.

Does anyone know if the payrates quoted on APC are acurate...even for the CR9? 5 years to get to $35/hr is disgusting!

I believe those are the old pay rates, and I assume the CRJ rates listed are for the -200, but I should probably let someone else (from XJ) answer.

The CRJ rates are CA only...it appreas that SF340 and CRJ f/o's make the same which starts at $23 and doesn't rise to $35 until after 5 years which most regionals pay in the 2nd year. I sincerely hope new pay scales will be hammered out for the CR9.
