Where will I have to live?
I'm planning on getting a regional job in a couple of years and I am trying to figure out where I will be able to live. Is it more or less likely that I will be able to live in a different state than which I am based? How hard is it / how long does it take before I would be able to transfer to a different base? Do any regionals give you a choice for base?
I am concerned about where I live mainly because my dad owns a nursery business and I would like to work for him during my time off. Is this a far fetched goal? |

Actually, nevermind....just re-read your post and your talking about a couple years. Who knows what companies will be around then =) Basically, you can live somewhere other than your base / domicile, and commute to work. You could also live at your base / domicile, and commute home to help your dad out. Transferring bases really depends on the company you work for. But yes, its definitely doable. |
I live in northwest Ohio about 1 1/4 hrs north of Dayton, Oh.
I have thought about commuting home to help my dad. However, I will have a beautiful young lady waiting for me at home and I doubt she will be thrilled about the idea of me leaving her again to help dad. |

Commuting is always a viable, yet PAIN IN THE rear, option. With seniority, you can change bases at the airlines... Note: It is always helpful to live near a busy airport like Atlanta or Huston or New York or DC or something....
