Funny how young buffalopilot is now no where to be found. After telling us, in so many words, that he’s just another delusional JSJ newbie with dreams of a move star life as a pilot. LOL :D Funny how life has a way of teaching the ignorant, not stupid, a lesson!

Give it a few months to a yr and if it's still not for you then bail ASAP, the longer you prolong the more married (debt) to it you’ll become. There are other jobs in aviation that a pilot with you’re time should be able to demo. “Demo”, LOL, “if that ain’t funny I don’t know what is.”

He did respond to me in a PM. It is a serious decision whether he is a newbie or not that may affect his future. Support for our "younger" brother and sisters in our career I feel we sometimes forget.

I support and try to assist and help all I can, just read all my postings. BUT, he's obviously a newbie being just off IOE and he has a serious problem.

Looking at the questions Buffalopilot asked in the Forum before going to Comair interview it seemed like maybe he lacked the knowledge or experience necessary to be at the level of 121 operations and now he suddenly is faced with the reality of how the job can be. That is normal when you only have 800 something hours and not much multi time. That he feels bad now can have something to do with the fact that the lack of experience maybe is seen by the Captains that he has to fly with making the working enviroment not very nice to deal with. I may be completely wrong but a pilot with just 800 something hours should be extatic about being hired by an airline. It is so early in the career that he must stil be dreaming about how great it is just to be flying and would do it for nothing and under any circumstances. That he feels so bad seems strange to me. Many pilots with 800 hours have a great level of knowledge but judgement and real life experience is only achieved with time and age. Comair does not care much about that and even if it may irritate a lot of people I think that hiring people that are very young is not very wise. There must be a reason why you have to have a certain age to get the ATP and even if it should not be a requirement to have an ATP starting at an airline the age limmit should be much higher than today. Now some would say people can mature early and some never mature but I would preffer to be flown by the same pilot when he is 27 than when hes is 21, Why? because hopefully those years of life has giving him something that makes him better. What this tells me is that the recruiters at Comair do not have a clue about recruitment and what they are doing. I have seen experience people being rejected at Comair and kids with no experience being hired just because they can give a book answer to questions. Many kids starting at Comair know the answers to the questions asked in the interview becaused they know where to find the answers and know them like parrots but they have no deeper knowledge, experience or judgement. Maybe they have some CFI time and that can help them to be current on how to answer questions but does that make them current in flying skills and judgement? I don't know but the whole recruitment thing seems to be based on very strange criterias.............

Theskyisclear makes a good point. The regionals seek out certain types of people. Most regionals want low timers because they most likely will not complain about the pay and conditions. They reject higher time people because they will expect more and the company does not want to deal with these types.

Just to show how exceptionally tough I was.

I had to take an immuno-suppresant for a while. The immune system gets knocked down, and I was great - except for my teeth. I took meticulous care, but still had two abcesses flare. These came quickly (matter of hours). Anyway, by the time I got to the endo-dontist, my mouth...actually my whole face, was so swollen they could not get the novacain where it needed to be, so the drilled away.

It was a blast! Dentists are all sadists.

There's a big learning curve with any new job, and airline pilot is no exception. I know my regional airline beat the love of flying out of me! I just flew with a Capt. a few days ago who has a new baby at home, and he wants to change careers so he can be home every night. My suggestion is give it a few months to a year before you make a decision. Good luck!
