am i the only one who hates to go

I am on IOE for Comair and everytime I come home, I dont want to leave again. It seems difficult to enjoy the job when I only want to get home! Any one else feel this way. I get depressed when I have to leave home. I think of reasons to quit the job, like yesterday I almost missed my flight on purpose to CVG trying to commute to work.

i dont hate to go to work. i have a wonderful family at home, but like almost everyone else in the world i have to earn a living. just sounds like maybe its not what you thought it was going to be.

I think I would really enjoy the flying if I was home every day, I do love to fly!

haha you hate it and its IOE? wow thats crazy youre going to be miserable for the rest of your life. IOE trips are usually some of the best trips because the check airmen flying them are generally senior. youll wont see trips that good for a couple years. good luck to you, learn to love it. youll hate life even more if you quit

ghilis101 03-17-2007 08:44 AM

side note: go to skywest, move to MKE. all the trips out of MKE pretty much are day lines, with hardly any overnights. youll be home every night.

Some people really aren't cut out to be away from home. It's also hard for people who are not used to it at first (my first semester away at college wasn't really fun).

If you can't get used to it, the good news is that if you live in domicile and after you get enough seniority, at most airlines you can bid all or almost all day trips (where you come home each night)

Buffalo,

I had similar thoughts during OE. I don't think they were quite as serious as yours though. I'd say stick with it for at least 3 months, 6 is even better, or set a goal of a year. Tell yourself, "I'll decide if I want to stick with it after X months". That way you make sure you aren't making an irrational decision based just on emotion.

I am going on almost 8 months with a regional and I'm happy with no thoughts of leaving. Well, no thoughts of leaving unless it's for a better job, of course. I figure you can't say you've had a real attempt at this career unless you've stuck with it for at least 2 years (in the airlines).

oh boy.......................Unbelievable that's why most that do this "love" flying, you seem like you like the idea of beaing an airline pilot, but that's it, just the idea of it. How much flying have you done out of the enjoyment of flying rather than hrs used just to fill time requirements

ghilis101 03-17-2007 10:39 AM

commuting to reserve is going to be even more depressing....

WingOffLight 03-17-2007 10:48 AM

Ha!

Well, If you hate it now you had better bail quick. Atleast you will have less to lose than you will after 2-3yrs of trying to tolerate it.
