SKYWAY dba Midwest Connect
Any thoughts on this company? Have an interview on Tuesday March 20th!
Will be staying @ Radisson Hotel MKE. Am aware of aviationinterviews.com 1400TT 126 MEL 1 Turbine and 4 yr. degree. Also, how easy would it be to move up and into Midwest Airlines? |
Not much flying for them anymore... want MKE come to Skywest. Why did you choose skyways?
|
lots of attrition (a lot of senior pilots leaving for midwest). if midwest is a place you would like to end up, skyway is definitely the way to go. future is pretty uncertain...as of now it looks like the beeches will be gone by the end of the year.

I work for Skyway, although I'm not personally conducting interviews for pilots right now. Lots of our pilots do eventually move to Midwest...in fact, I think they hire more of our pilots than from anywhere else. Now is a good time to join--we used to hire pretty much only for the Beech 1900, but now you might end up in a 328 jet class (and since the 1900s are going away at some point this year, you'd likely end up in a 328 jet pretty soon either way).
Good luck in your interview tomorrow! |

I applied from climbto350, and they called a couple days later. Minimums were pretty low, not sure exact numbers.
|
Minimums are 700 hours total time and 50 hours multi-engine. We are more or less continuously interviewing right now, probably for at least the next couple of months. You can email a resume to [email protected] (put PILOT in the subject line so the recruiter sees it). Make sure your email is actually on your resume; that's a much faster way for us to get in touch with you than via phone.

I interviewed at Skyway recently. The interview was upstairs in a maintenance hangar. The usual individuals doing the interviews (assistant chief pilot and fleet manager) weren't there as the two of them just up and quit...word on the street is they went to Jet Blue with no notice! (Should tell you something right there). They started off by saying they would probably furlough, and they were just hiring to fill a void for a few months. They are parking all the 1900's by September or October and going to an all DO-328 fleet. I guess attrition is so bad now that all the guys are flying 90 hours a month with 10 days off. Anyhow, biggest waste of my time. I have been to some crappy interviews (Mesa, Great Lakes) and this is the far worst. Why would anyone want to go to an airline that is going to furlough????? IMHO, this is one to avoid for now. Go look at Skywest or Chautauqua.

hey good luck on the interview- I worked for
Skyway for a year and it was a great experience. Nice people and MKE is a great city, especially on the east side! Almost all my classmates and the Captains I flew with have left since I did and not all to majors. Truth is you can have the same deal and more stability if there is such a thing with Skywest in the 50 seater- My buddy started a class in SLC and SKYWest sent almost everybody to MKE My buddies all left skyway since and don't regret it as do I. I left with the CEO bailed and the Union rep told me to bail, the writings on the wall at Skyway and has been for awhile. IF you want Midwest (if they are still around when they hire again) something tells me that there will be preferential hiring for not only the remaining Skyway pilots but Skywest as well with this new 5 yr contract on the RJs. |
