Default Having a Capt. walk in your resume at XJT?

Recently I applied via online for xjt. A captain friend of mine said he recommended me, but the website does not show it. I called and they said that there really arent any walk-ins anymore. Is this right? Does anybody know the proc. for having an employee reccommend you for an interview at xjt?

I don't work at XJT, but I have been recruiting for a long time, and in my experience, the best way to get a friend hired is to call or email (even better) someone personally in HR. If they know someone personally they are friendly with in the department, that's ideal...otherwise, if they just send a message to the person who actually does the recruiting/resume reviews, that works. Whenever I get a message from an employee that says, "Hey, I sent my friend Joe over, he's a great guy, you should take a look," I always do. It always makes my job easier to have a recommendation from a good employee...hiring off the street is always a gamble.

Good luck!

I would ask your friend if he had a chance to drop of your resume yet. Might be as simple as not having time to het it over there. Also, if XJT sends you an invite it may not show that action on the internet app right away. Keep Studying and preping for the big day and if your buddy has sent your stuff in they should give you a shot and long as you are at or above the mins.

If you are still bellow the mins it might be a little trickier unless yourfriend is a check airman and has flown with you or can attest to your flying abilities.

Good Luck

PS- HR Chick who are you with, wonder if I know You?

Hes based in EWR so doesnt get down to IAH much. But I guess walking in the resume is a thing of the past. Think an email or phone call would suffice?

I work at Skyway--my only airline job (although I have been in HR a long, long time). I started lurking here in part to see what pilots say about the industry, since I'm fairly new to it.

Chances are he has not been down to the HR/Training folks to drop off you resume yet. The other option would be for him to email your resume to GS at flight ops if he feels comfortable doing that.

Its your career. Dont just rely on a friend. Make sure you have your application completed online and also apply to other quality airlines out there that you want to work for. What are your hours? XJT is looking for 600/100 on the low side but most have more than that.

Good Luck

I had an Expressjet CA/APD based in IAH offer to walk my resume into HR, but he tried and was told all pilot resumes were screened by an outsourced HR agency and that he could help me once I was selected for an interview, but not before that.

That was mid-2005, dunno if things have changed since then.

I heard the process has changed a little, but give this a try. When you filled out the online app, did it give you a refernce number?

If so, give this to your buddy and have him email your resume, the ref number, along with his love story to the DO. Assuming you meet the mins, you should get a call chop chop. It worked for a friend of mine.
