Default Mesaba future

I got a call from Jody in HR yesterday that my saab class scheduled to begin 9/26 has been postponed. She said she would call me with more info on Friday. Anyone have any idea when or if classes will be rescheduled? Do you think it is worth waiting for or should I plan on trying to find a job elsewhere?

The future of the Avro is the big question mark around Mesaba. Right now, hiring is only going into the CRJ. Supposedly on Oct 6 we will find out more answers. So until then, we hold our breath.

I would suggest applying to other regionals, not because Mesaba is a bad place to work. In this business, never put all of your eggs in one basket (or at least try not to), and never burn any bridges. But all this Avro talk is typical NWA smoke and mirrors. Good luck and perhaps HR will call you to bump you into a CRJ class.

From various Av message boards around the web, seems as if all NW Airlink carriers are suspending hiring if they haven't already...

I had an interview today Pinnacle and one next week at Mesaba, both have been cancelled and I am now in a pool with both to be called back when they start hiring again, have an interview with XJT and am hoping to get that now as I already work at Eagle but am really ready to get on with someone else. Good luck to all who work with northwest commuters, going to be a tough road I think.

Doesn't sound like they are going to be hiring for a LONG, LONG time.....

LOS ANGELES, Sept 23 (Reuters) - Mair Holdings Inc., parent of Mesaba Aviation Inc., said on Friday that Northwest Airlines Inc. will remove from service the 35 regional jets operated by Mesaba, Northwest's schedule provides that nine of the jets will be removed from service as of October 31, while the remaining leases will be terminated effective December 20.

Another Northwest scaretactic. Don't worry yet. Mesaba is a vital part of Northwest's route structure.

This is all starting to sound more and more like a merge.
