You never know man. If you want to find out it's the best way. Sometimes there are errors and they need to be addressed before the airline takes a look. I didn't pully FBI file but I had two warrants out for my arrest in my small home town simply because the lady didn't type all the info in correctly and the computer had kicked it to the DPS. I called the judge, who I deerhunt with, and he remembered me taking care of it years ago when I was a kid so they simply cleared it. It's always just nice to know.

exactly. that is calledd due process. innocent peops are arrested all the time. why should a policemens mistake hurt you? it's the conviction that counts. a lot of people here think that the airlines check the fbi file.......they don't.

I have no idea what makes or breaks a SIDA clearance, but I know it contains and an FBI check because I used to have a SIDA clearance. Unless you work for the FBI how do you know, eh?

and why don't you have a sida badge any longer?

They take it away when you quit and it was a summer job.

My earlier point was that any law enforcement related event may end up on your record and although it may end up in the national database you have nothing to worry about unless you have an arrest record. Law enforcement is free to write anything they want about you to keep tabs on you if you are ever a suspect of any kind. LE keeps files on lots of people who have never committed crimes or even been arrested. Knowing this history is probaby a good idea if you can get access to it, a point which I concede. Just the same, if you do indeed have prior convictions you don't need an FBI check you should just get a job outside of commercial passenger aviation. If you had a bunch of arrests and no convictions the nature of the arrests would matter and a bunch of arrests looks bad even without a conviction.

Mama, as far as what airlines check for I thought the whole point of this thread was how to find out whats on your record so you can know what is likely to happen when an airline does its check. I concede this is probably a good idea, personally I wouldn't bother. How do you know a persons record doesn't include FBI data? Do you claim ABC airline is going to hire someone to fly all through the national airspace without once checking on a possible laundry list of federal crimes they may have been convicted of?

Go the the police department where you live and request an NCIS (National Criminal Information Service i think). Its about 5 bucks and is your actual "record".
