Comair about to lower thier mins again!!!

Taken from another website....................

I flew back to CVG today with someone from the training department. Here's how the low timers are doing. Comair just had to lease some sims in YUL due to the ones here being jammed packed. So far the low timers are doing good. Some are having difficulty staying up to speed with the aircraft. The rest are doing extrememly well. Oh and there will be an announcement soon that the hiring times are going to drop again! I know all you low time haters are going to drool all over it!http://forums.jetcareers.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif I told him about TSA's new hiring mins and his jaw dropped. He's not truly liking the 600 required now

as qouted from H46bubba, a Comair employee/aspiring pilot, from Jetcareers.com

Input? Views? Thoughts?

Do you know why they are lowering their mins even further? I would think that if their training center is "jam packed" then they must not be having too much trouble filling up classes. Does anyone know how they are doing as far as getting applicants to show up for the interviews/classes?

from what we were told, those of us that attended thier career day on 3/24/07, that the pilot shortage is severe, so Comair is responding to market conditions. Other regionals have lowered thier mins, so I guess you can say its' a vicious cycle.

Does anybody think this pilot shortage will last the next year and a half or two, at least? I hope so, because I will be done with college by then and instructing my arse off, but I suppose we will see.

As long as all the the majors and Legacies are hiring, expect Comair and all the regionals to be hiring as well. Comair is planning on hiring 60 pilots a month until January, and I doubt it will end then.

TSA may post 250....but they will only hire you at 500....that's what they told me at least....400/120
Unless you're a prod. off a bridge program I guess....

And that last statement was a direct quote of cunningham towards me:mad:

Do you think it is because you are 19, no CFI, and you don't have a college degree.

250TT is low enough. But now if you put a really young kid, without any teaching experience (the best way to learn), and no college degree to show that you can complete something from start to finish. Couple that with TSA's already high washout rate...

Sorry, it sounds kind of harsh, but I would not hire you, and I can understand why TSA won't either.

"Unless you're a prod. off a bridge program"

What's a prod. off?

SiouxCFI 04-10-2007 09:41 PM

Where is it posted that they are taking 250tt?

I think he means "product of" though you can add me to the list of people who have never seen product abbreviated in such a manner. :p
