Don't press your luck. If you eat at wilburs there are cramps and stomch pain in your future.

That doesn't sound good. Any suggestions on other places to eat that are close by?

Come to the interview with the right attitude and don't blame the sim for poor performance. If you make a mistake blow it off and try your hardest to correct it. Also don't get hung up on whats already done, stay in the game.

I talked with the chief pilot the other day and they are going to change the sim ride into a 737, more realistic, the CRJ sim is very fast and sensitive.

Remember you attitude says alot, if your low time act low time with the willingness to learn. Myself and the sim instuctors were there once and we want you to succeed. Good Luck!

Hey two dot, did you get the job?

This is what happened to me. I passed the written, the interview went well, and the sim was great. I know this because when I got home, a recruiter called me and thinking he had me on hold, read my evaluation back to me, or whatever. The check pilots wrote that I was very smooth on the controls, asked if I ever flew 121 before. (No, but I practiced like hell on Microsoft Flight Simulator ACOF) Gave them the correct entry, that trim in the crj sim is hellified, so heads up for that. At the end of the evaluation they wrote and underlined it twice that I was DEFINENTLY TRAINABLE.

Now the weird part. When I got home, and remember I am still talking to this recruiter, HE OFFERS ME.....................A position as a CRJ ground school instructor. What!????? Told me it was a 2 year commitment, then I could go to the line. He asks if I would come in and talk to him, I do and I'm like, I didn't apply for this, nor do I feel qaulified to teach anyone this information (I don't have my CFI or ground school certs.)
I tactfully but strongly reaffirm my interest in flying as a F.O. not a desk.
He then tells me to go home and wait on a phone call.

2 days later I get a call, saying, your not qaulified for this job, (DUH) you need more experience, go out and become a C.F.I. teach some ground school, and then when you reapply in 6 months I still want you to start off as a ground school instructor, I'll have you do that for a year, after that I may let you go to the line, but in reality, your chances of making it at that point are slim to none. I was shocked. He then tells me to call him anytime if he could be of service. WTF? I called Rachel, and she says you interviewed good, passed the test, but your sim ride is what did you in.
(At this point I'm like yeah, sure after hearing what the other recruiter told me, accidently perhaps.)

However, this story isn't over. As a concellation prize, I have been offered an interview (GARANTEED) with a company that flys EMB's 130/140's provided I meet thier mins. At first, I didn't have a way to do that, now I do. Its' looking real damn good for a shot at moving to Houston, Texas. (And no, its not CHQ OR COLGAN,that only leaves one, think of Branded Flying.)

Anyway thanks PSA, I learned quite a bit from your interview experience, but I think I will just move on to other things. So you know what they say, if one door closes, another opens up that oftentimes may be better than what you wanted.

Take Care everyone, and again congrats to those who made it through.

I WILL SEE YOU ALL ON THE LINE JUST AT A DIFFERENT AIRLINE.

On Autopilot 05-13-2007 07:36 AM

Has anyone else had a similiar experience, or know of someone who has?

Skyranger777 05-13-2007 10:10 AM

Never heard of that before, but nothing surprises me anymore...

Hey Hawk, if you have a car, get on route 40, the Vandalia exit. Turn left or right and you have a number of food places to eat at. I prefer you make a right, take 40 over the Englewood Dam, then where it dead ends make a left. You'll see some pretty good stuff, Meijer, Mickey D's the works. If you jump on I 70 east to the Beavercreek WPAFB exit, you can go to the Mall at Fairfield Commons, stop at the Golden Corrrall and eat till you mess up your wieght and balance configuration, or at least have folks think your due. :) One more thing, if you go left on 40, make a right on North Dixie Drive. Go to a place called York Commons, its all pretty new, Super Wal Mart, Chipotle, etc. If you can, get the Shuttle Bus Driver to go there instead of that overpriced Miejer store. trust me, you'll be glad you did. A liitle further down is the North Dixie Drive in, though I have No idea what you married types would want to go there for...........;)

Don't forget your bullet proof vest incase u get lost:D

NightHawk 05-13-2007 04:40 PM

Looks like I have a problem. I can either eat at Wilbur's and overpay for food that will give me cramps and gas, or I can venture away and risk getting hit by a stray bullet during a drive by. It's probably good I'm not bringing my car.

Well gents, Dayton is Dayton, but the places I directed you to are in the very nice sections of town. Cmon, would I do that to ya? ;)

I think many off you will be taken aback at how as Tom Arlene puts it, how stupid the people are up here. (Something in the water as he puts it.) If you are not used to folks being culturally diverse, and still think with a certain mental handicap, Dayton is your place. Now not everyone in town is like that, and it would be unfair for me to portray Dayton like that...buuuuut.....I mean when the factories up here shut down,Most intellectuals left, not all. Leaving us with, well this is suppose the be the place that taught the world to fly..........then you look at the airport here and wonder.............

Yes crime up here is sky high, so you do have to excercise caution. Get your training done everyone and get the hell out of here.

EAT AT WILBURS!! That way if you have a stage check that isn't going so well, let's just say that gas would probaly get you out of a "Stinky" situation, or cause you ground school instructor to pass out. :D

I don't know, yes they are, yes. I answered your questions in the order you asked them. Allegedly, a girl was hired with 290tt with 20 multi. I was told I needed more experience, Uh yeah. They also wanted me to teach RJ
ground school, and I have 0 experience with that. Wouldn't hurt to apply, see where it takes you.

So is it true a few Express Jet interns got hired at 300tt 50 multi? Chief Pilot said people were smokin crack if I thought that was true, not sure if he meant butt crack or something else. (LOL) :D

BUT, if there was another girl who got hired according to you, is she cute?:D

NightHawk 05-15-2007 11:30 AM

yeah, I hear both the females got hired. ShanneJJ, are you in Dayton already? I know you're in my class on the 21st. What's going on, little R&R in Ohio's hidden jewel? How have you been preparing? For the most part I've just been memorizing the packet they gave us.

[quote=shanejj;155756]I just got the call!!:D
Starting training May 24st !!

Sorry, I guess I interpreted this as May 21st. Anyways, how's training going. Any pointers to help me get ready?

shanejj 05-16-2007 11:58 AM

If I did post that, It must have been before I called for an earlier class date...appearantly they had an earlier start date and I asked to get in it.

Any pointers?
Well....eat any good and healthy meal you can....you will be living on cans of fruit (no joke) when u get here :-/

For training....Just put effort into it? It's not like this is high school or college that's a breeze :-P

Anyway, not going to say much else since I am still in training myself:D

I'll have the roast duck with the Mango Salsa.

Go to Wilbur's for the most overpriced undernourishment plan anywhere.

I am eating HEALTHY dinners every night after class.

I just got a call from Peidmont for an interview, but they are a little late. Aside from the $5,000.00 bonus, I don't see anything appealing about that place. I'm glad to be with PSA.

Yeah I'll try. I'm dying of boredom. All three of my students cancelled on me this week. I'm ready for a real job. I was thinking of getting my hair trimmed, but that would make me less of a caveman. What do you think?

Well, if you went to PDT you might end up in the left seat of a PSA jet sooner. When the ALPA rep visits be sure to ask what the status of the Piedmont/Midatlantic CEL/APL grievences are.

I prefer not to make any lateral moves, even if it takes a while to upgrade. Could you elaberate on the Piedmont/Midatlantic CEL/APL thing?
