Thanks guys for the insights! I’ll be sure to read all over this forum (and others) and be involved to formulate a plan over time that can adjust.

Are you still in the industry?

Suit yourself. The best pilots I've flown with went to community college and did their training part 61 or came out of the military.

You’re not wrong about the loans part. Although having that enducation is a big bonus. There are majors out there that won’t even look at you unless you have a 4 year degree.

I agree. I was just making a point about not needing to go to UND or ERAU to get quality flight training.

A degree is a degree is a degree. Get an online business degree from a school that doesn't advertise and that box is checked.

Quote: Hello forum!
I’m currently a freshman at UND studying commercial aviation and aviation studies, as well as obtaining all certificates up to the R-ATP (after instructing for a year).

For those who have been to a flying university (like UND), and graduated pretty much into a regional; how was the step from living in a dorm/apt. to relocating and starting your initial training at a 135/121 operation? I am a big planner and I’m nervous about how it will be like to make such a switch in life style and if it is a financially-stressful event (I’m on full loans right now).
Also for those who have been at an airline for a while, what’s it like switching domiciles all the time and having to find new places to live? I feel like it would drain my pockets immediately having to find new places to live.

I know some of it is personal information that you wouldn’t discuss on a public forum, I just wanted vague opinions on it.
THanks!
Dmitri

I'm curious, are you one of the freshmen starting their flight training this year or next?

I had the same questions last year and realized exactly what these guys are saying to you. Do not look 5 years into the future cause half the regionals will be gone, or merged. The industry is constantly changing and freshmen year definitely taught me how to think about going about this career.

PM if you want more information about 102 tips! I got a lot of them. Also, if you see Foltz tell him The guy who said "just wanted to be crystal clear" says hi
