Default New regional scum, help with jumpseating

Please help

I don't want to look like a total scrub when I have to catch a jumpseat (I've been very lucky nonrev so far). I ask to list for the jumpseat at the gate, will the agent notify the CA? Should I ask if I run into them at the gate? Where the hell do I put my bags? Also, when should I board? Assume I've never seen an airplane before and I'm 5 years old.

I assume I should probably speak english and show up clothed. Otherwise assume I've never seen an airplane before and I'm 5 years old.

If yo7 have the ability to jumpseat, you have access to people to ask these questions to.......not stuff to be posted on public boards for security reasons

[MOD INPUT] No information related to jumpseat security or cockpit access procedures is allowed on APC.

You can discuss philosophical topics such as whether to shave or ask the CA for a ride.

Should I shave while asking the CA for a ride?

When should you board is different at most airlines. At WN, they let you down right away, at DL it will likely be the very end. It really just depends on the gate agent. Just ask. They will tell you were they want you.

As for bags, it can get tricky. The first thing I do is tell the FA at the door that I’m junpseating and if I can talk to the guys up front. I ask for a ride and this is important: ASK. Usually I introduce myself to both pilots and ask if I can catch a ride home or to work. Then I will tell them about the seating: “I think the agent said there are seats in the back but I’m not sure yet” or if they are buying revenue pax off the plane, “yeah it’s pretty full you don’t mind if I’m up front with you guys?” Then it’s showing them all the fun stuff. The FAs can usually find a spot for you bag. Worst case, find a DH tag and put that on.

[MOD EDIT]
