Default SkyWest mins

Good evening. Skywests mins are 100/1000, same as most of the other regionals. Currently I have 75/800. Should I apply now or should I wait until I have their mins?? Do they ever interview lower than their published mins? One more thing, a friend said that they dropped the mins way down a while ago, does anyone know of this? Thanks for your time.

I don't know anything about Skywest but I will tell you that minimums are flexible. If they need people and run out of a large enough applicant pool then they will go lower. Some years you would have to be a C5 Galaxy captain to be competitive. Other years 500 and a comm mel will do. I would go ahead and apply if I were you. SOme airlines keep track of how many times you contact them in a year. Some think a lot is good a few think it is bad. It is a judgement call but I would go ahead and apply now if I were you. Especially since there are furloughs starting at other regionals. They will flood the market for a while.

My friend and I went to their career fair a while back. He had 9 hours less than their required IFR min time but exceeded the 1,000/100 requirement by a lot. The recruiter took one look at his resume and told him to come back when he got another 9 hours if instrument and handed his resume back!

I believe that lower mins at SKW were associated with their bridge program only. Read the boards at www.jetcareers.com for more info as there are several SKW pilots there and many threads on the company.
