Don't kick in the wrong rudder in 40 knot crosswind landings.
Remember to have fun on the overnights, if you have time.
Hand fly it as much as possible!!!! When I did IOE, my Capt. made me hand fly the entire leg from EWR to BTV. Hand fly all your approaches, you'll thank yourself later when Jorge the AP takes a dump on your way to CLE during a blizzard.

Keep the shiny side up and the dirty side down, works every time.

Well, day 1 is done. It was a great time. It wasn't near as hard as I expected. I definitely didn't know A WHOLE TON OF STUFF! We never did the passenger briefings in the sim. We never had to deal with ramp control in the sim. There's all this stuff that you never see in the sim, and when I sat down for the first time, I was kinda lost. After the first leg I started to get the hang of things. I'm hoping tomorrow I can get through some legs where the captain doesn't have to prompt me to do things other than calling for checklists. Can't wait to strap in and do it again!

i find it helps also out of courtesy to the other pilot. Just the other day we did a dtw to lan turn, 22 min in the jet. Things are really busy in those 22 minutes and it helps the non fly (and the pilot flying) out a lot. For example we took off, i was flying, called for ap on at 600, he called departure, and then i took the radios so he could prepare for the approach into lan,, get atis, set up fms, call the station, etc. etc...
i guess what i am trying to say is that yeah,, i love to hand fly the plane to 28999, but some times it is prudent to get the ap on a little sooner to help facilitate all the other things going on.
