Wait, what? News to me! Have you had this done? Just curious how it turns out?

Yes, every pair of pants that I've purchased from the uniform vendor I've had tailored to shrink the diameter of the pants. It's not cheap, but I think it's worth the cost. However, one time I bought a pair of pants from crew outfitters and they had put a silicon bead on the inside of the crease so that it holds the crease... and if your tailor doesn't remove an equal amount of material from both sides, then you have a problem. But I have only received one pair of pants that had that.

Good to know. I'm tall and slender so the pants they gave me look like they are for a 300 lb dude. I'm going to go broke on tailoring, but I figure if your going to be a professional you should look the part. Too bad the airlines don't feel the same way. Guy at Men's Warehouse told me Alaska used to have them fit pilots. Cost cutting....

Thanks!

Yes it can be done by a good tailor.

I had it done on a lightweight summer suit last year. Was a big improvement.

I was at Republic and hated the M&H pants and shirts. Very scratchy feeling and not sure why. At Commutair now and we're Navy Blue as well and use Crew Outfitters. While tailored reasonably well the official pants are needlessly expensive and generally of poor quality.

Frustrated, I went to Macys and found Ralph Lauren Navy Blue pants off the rack that are a dead ringer for the Republic and C5 pants at least in color. They're not exactly the same fabric texture, but that is not obvious unless comparing them at less than a foot away. The RL are a better quality wool pant for less money and available in all the usual off-the-rack sizes.

The only thing I miss right now from Republic is the 3 in 1 jacket. I was doing my walkaround in Quebec the other day in -20 and really missed it. That jacket is light years better than what C5 offers. I wish I knew who made them for Republic because I'd buy one direct. If anyone with the 3 in 1 can get me the manufacturer name or would be willing to coordinate a sale of a new size small I'd appreciate it.

A little off topic, but why in the world would you leave YX for C5?

While I don’t like any hats period the Endeavour hat looks like they forgot to put a logo on it.

Yeah, not a fan of hats either. Until I go bald at least. Lol

Doesn't need to be a good tailor, just someone one step above the "dry cleaning and alterations" place should be able to do it.
It's a sideseam job so shouldn't be that expensive, you don't do any work on the construction.

This. The horn-rimmed glasses... the stupid hair flip... those teeth... definitely the worst.

My fav is SKW, hands down. The knee-high black boots seal the deal. Even better was legacy VX, more boots, leather, short skirts, etc.

Oh wait, were you guys talking about PILOT uniforms  Why?

Best pilot uniform hands down is heavy cargo... sweatsuits or pajamas.
