Your right man, I started helping out at my local food bank a week ago.I hope what I said isn't taken that way. I know some people have advantages, I'm going to work as hard as I can to differentiate myself.

I get the history, still sucks that I have less of a chance of reaching my dream just because I'm of European ancestry and a male.

What if you identify as a female? Just sayin...

Don’t help at the food bank to differentiate yourself. Volunteer to help people and because it’s the right thing to do.

I have observed that will get you hired pretty quickly. Apparently the trick is to send the major a letter explaining the background discrepancy between your old name and your new name.

I don't know if they are falling all over themselves to be PC, or if they are just afraid of getting sued if they don't hire you.

But either way, gender is pretty fluid these days. Nothing they could do if you decided to transition back to what you started with down the road at some point. That point being after probation

Your right man, and believe me there were other, better reasons I did it. But in this context my personal beliefs aren't germane to this forum.

99% of pilots volunteer on their days off to check that box. It is rather incredulous that a potential employer puts you in a position that takes away from your own valuable free time. But hey, they want to feel good about themselves hiring those kind of people even if it is a giant lie.

^^^^^Sad truth...

It was rumored that UAL was going to de-emphasize volunteer work since it really can’t be verified. I don’t believe it happened.

Can’t remember how many guys I know stopped their volunteer work after being hired and did it to simply check to box/fill the app space.
