Question Telex Status in the airline cockpit?

Does anyone use the Telex Stratus in the RJ or 1900 ect??

I'm considering a headset upgrade as I'm about to be flying 125 hours a month and think ANR will help with fatigue. I'm flight instructing now and want to get something that I can take to the regionals when the time comes.

Thanks for the help!!!!

Check the other posts. There's one right on the main regional message board that's been active for a few days now.

I'm not interested in the airman series if you're referring to the thread you started.

I don't think those would work very well in the GA piston cockpit.

I use the Tellex Stratus 50 D in the EMJ. Personally i think it works great. on long days with 5 legs i definitely use the ANR as it seems to help with fatigue. on the shorter days sometimes i just forget to turn it on, as it has great passive noise reduction as well. one thing i have found is that the mic is especially sensitive so if you are sitting there all quite you may hear some static feedback which gets annoying for both pilots. (i think it has to do with the added digital noise reduction system that Tellex put in it). also it is a little bulky.

overall its a great headset! i think its better than a Bose because of the passive noise reduction you get and the new digital noise reduction.

I agree, the Telex is better. I just upgraded from the old stratus to the new one and I love this one even more. You won't regret this purchase.

Might want to check out the Lightspeed mach one, I've had mine for over a year and absolutely love it. I have used it in everything from a noisy cherokee 235 to a king air 200 and it is nearly flawless. Its not quite as quiet as my old Telex stratus but its alot more comfortable and ALOT less bulky. I just had the impressions for the custom earseals made at sun n fun on saturday, I'm sure i will like it even better once those come in.

In my opinion, the only thing Bose has going for them is their tiny size. Personally I would never pay that much for something that feels like everytime I put them on I'm going to break them. And their ANR performance is not worth paying $400 more for.

I also use the Telex Stratus 30XT. Works great in the Saab and has great passive noise reduction. I always forget to turn on the ANR. Worked well when I instructed too and they're not $1000.
