My point was they have invested more then Inc ever did and in a shorter time frame. Also last time I checked an E175 isn’t that cheap |
I would urge anyone reading this thread and deciding which regional to apply/interview/work for to consider the following.
Do not base your decision on wait times for training. Regionals which can get you through training quickly are not necessarily the best ones. A 6-8 month wait for a good regional, while it may seem long, is worth it. The simple truth is, as much as people say "its a regional, embrace the suck," we will hang our hats here for a MINIMUM of 4-5 years. Most of us more than that. And in that 4-5 years you will come to see the difference between a good regional, with decent pay and better schedules, and a bad one, the one who gets you in class and gets you flying sooner. Just remember, no reserve means every pilot is on reserve. Wait for the right company. Republic, endeavor, etc. You still have to live your life while those 4-5 years pass. Better to do that with 15 days off a month than 11. |

For me, I would live in base. My current gig, while not full time flying, pays better than what I would make until CA. Stockpiling cash until I get the call.

This is my exact situation too. It would be nice to see this thread expanded from training wait times to also include how long training is once you get there. Seems like the average is 6-8 weeks across the board so far.
1. How many hours you will fly the first year off IOE. 2. How many months you’ll be on reserve before you’ll hold a line. |

But also know that this can change rapidly. Just a few years ago Republic and Endeavor would NOT have been used in the same breath as “good regional, with descent pay and better schedules”. Both were dumpster fires and no one seriously gave them more than a year before they would be shut down.
Times change. |

This. Twelve months ago, XJT was a goner. Six months ago, GoJet was as good as dead.

Some one a few months ago posted s thread listing regionals in order of “goodness.” The rankings were almost 180 degrees different than a similar list would have looked when I started 8 years ago. Change wasn’t unexpected but how completely the poles had shifted was shocking, and really telling of how unpredictable the regional sector of the industry is. Proof for sure that anyone’s prediction of what airline will continue being the “best” and who’s closing/merging should be taken with a huge grain of salt.

FWIW, Endeavor's 175s are still all Photoshopped, and Compass still has the best threads.
