For all you recently hired Skywest guys…
I did my interview in SLC a couple days back. How was long was the wait until you got the FedEx package (or in some cases phone call) after you interviewed? I’m assuming 5-10 business days, but the suspense is killing me. - Thanks

A friend and I interviewed on April 11th and 12th. I don't know if it's a common practice or not but we both were offered class dates on the CRJ, via telephone, within a few hours of completing our interviews.
The FedEx package contains welcome info/pre-class study materials consistent with the A/C type. Took about 5 days but I think they over-nighted on the 4th day. It just took them a few days to get around to it.
Good luck!

Good Luck.
P.S. For those of you who don’t know and this is very important. SKW is one the hardest interviews in the entire industry and “THE” hardest among regionals. But it is much easier as a CFI’s than current 121 pilots. As a CFI you are used to teaching you’re a/c systems but as a 121er you’re not. As a 121er you’ll have to teach 3-4 systems. A friend of mine was to explain, diagram and teach the fuel system, engines and electrical AC & DC systems of the CRJ. The wording on the fuel system was as follows, “I’m a molecule of fuel, explain, diagram and teach how I go from being fuel in the fuel truck to exhaust out the back of the engine. Then he’ll ask you every question he can think of during the lesson.
Is this approach right? NO, I don’t agree with it. If you’re a 121er then yes quiz to find out the extent of their knowledge and to find out if they actually paid attention in ground school. BUT it should be more of an attitude interview, are you the kind of pilot I want to spend a trip with? Are you the kind of person that could be my friend? I feel this is more relevant. Especially when finding quality pilots are becoming increasingly harder.

Congrats Bascuela,
Do you recall the hiring mins and hiring outlook for the rest of the year. I have a few friends looking right now. And if anyone knows, what flights times are considered competitive for an interview.
Thanks in advance...enjoy !

When we interviewed (last month), the mins were 1000/100. I don't think the mins will drop unless there's some sort of bridge program out there. As far as hiring it was forecast to continue strong over the remainder of the year. Though, I don't recall the exact numbers.
My mins. were 1503/1000 (887 Part 135 twin turboprop),CFI, MEI-I (not current) and ATP; B-737 at the time. There were 8 people at the interview. One Mesa CRJ guy didn't do so well on the sim and was asked to leave early. Beyond that, I have no idea how many of us made it through. It seems like what I had was pretty close to average, but I know that there were 2 or 3 applicants who were closer to mins. Most of us in the room were making a lateral move of some sort.
