Regional contracts

What's the latest with Regional Airlines and post-training contracts/committments, do they usually have one or do any of them not have one? Most don't say on their profile pages if they do or don't.

I think most have shied away from contracts (which might scare off candidates), but you DEFINITELY want to verify that before you quit your old job.

I think today the new "training" contract is the recruiting bonus, which is only paid out over time if you stay at the company. I think you have the option of not accepting the bonus if you don't plan on staying long. Personally I would probably take the money, bank it, and give it back if a legacy calls in 8 months. If for some reason you get stuck longer than planned, you might as well have the bonus. Have to look at tax ramifications, ie if you pay part or all of the bonus back, do you get your taxes back too? Knowing the .gov, I'd guess not.

Silver has one if you take the CTP course from them. I find it interesting because they are a turbo prop operator on the low-end of things, that they can get away with this.

Location? I never got to go to south FL in the regionals, much less be based there. Took 20 years and a legacy job for good overnights.

The prop flying is an issue, not as competitive for the majors.

But the CTP thing is a general professional certification, so it's not unreasonable that you owe them something for that.

I think that's par for the course. 9E doesn't make folks pay back their bonus for getting through OE, but I think there is a contract for the cost of the CTP course.

At QX you’ll never worry about your contract being renewed. :D
