What is the deal with the sudden surge of replying to 7 year old threads like it happened yesterday?

My guess? Probably someone doing a forum search and their key words being up a necro thread. They read it, get into the discussion, then post without ever looking at the date.

Or trying to dredge up old news to make certain airlines look bad, based off of old out-dated info... topics should be locked out after 6 months the way this industry goes...

Just the opposite. It’s important for newbies to understand how often even the conventional wisdom is wrong.

3-4 years ago the predictions were correct (even though everyone here said no way).

But yes, today's predictions are unrealistic.
