Getting stuck at Colgan is not very likely, but anything can happen. Just because you can't get the only one job you really want to leave Colgan for does not a stuck man make. Like anyplace else, you have to network because 99% of the time it's about who you know. Nothing against North Amrican or JetBlue but neither really hold any of my interest. We've had and still have folks go to plenty of real career ending places. UPS, Southwest, and CO to name a few. We still do have people leaving. Please, let's not get into the "you need to have jet PIC, tp PIC wont get you anywhere" discussion because that's a crock of ****e.
Sreriously man, I wish you the best of luck. You made your choice, if you think it was for the best good on you. I hope you'll be much happier there. I don't agree with your choice, but it's just my opinon, so be it. I'm as wrong as anybody else is from time to time, but you're not gonna change my mind and I'm probably not gonna change yours either. No one can predict the future, we can only make our best guesses and choices with what we have to work with. For me, that's getting in and getting out. I've don't have a problem making a short term sacrifice for a long term gain. No other way I could stomach the zoo and big blue, and now I'm stomaching Colgan. |

i have to weigh in on this now....i have been biting my tongue long enough...
i think it is important to realize that everyone has their OWN reasons for flying airplanes. some love it, some need a job, some want a certain QOL...and the list goes on....the key is that it is all about perspective.. not to throw a spear, but i would be VERY interested in the ages of some of the people whining about ANY regional job....where have you worked before...hmmm, have you ever had any other job than flight instructing or growing up Embry Riddle. my plans are to fly for the regionals when i get out of the military and here is the deal. i dont care how bad you say it is: 1. Boss is an ass 2. planes break 3. they wont let you off for your father who is in the hospital (i remember reading that one on here...oh and he didnt die) 4. management doesnt understand me.... 5. blah, blah, blah the bottomline is that you are: 1. not deployed for 120 days+ away from your family 2. take a chance on getting shot at (well hopefully you dont) 3. live in a ****hole tent or trailer in the desert 4. have to wear certain PT gear when you are deployed 5. have to take a shower in a trailer that is 100 yards from your tent or dorm 6. wake up in the middle of the night and have to **** in a water bottle because you dont want to have to walk those 100 yards to the toilet. 7. blah, blah, blah my point??? perspective... true i signed up for it...but dudes, when you are bitching about your hotels, flying those "long" 8 hour days sitting in an air conditioned airliner in the jet routes on autopilot drinking your coffee.....try and keep a little perspective.. flying is flying....if you want to make yourself feel REALLY good, think about all of the schmucks you are hauling around so they can go sit in an office somewhere or better yet, when you are climbing out, look down at all of the schmucks in traffic on their way to the office...i KNOW you will feel better about your job... remember, there are two types of time: 1. flight time 2. miller time ok, i am off the soap box... cheers!! |

I feel your Pain I am a Veteran of the Gulf War and I hear what you are saying but just keep in Mind we dont have a Draft.. YET ie.. so if people want to complain so be it,, people serving in the military choose that life I did on active duty for 8 yrs and still do the reserve thing thats my choice, I am not mad or ****ed because some whiney *** person have never been shot at in combat or have a clue what MOPP level 4 alarm Red or Black is, I just bite my tounge and thank God I am alive.. ok my rant is over |
