Currently living in south Florida and not too interested in moving. I have a CJO from Skywest and Republic and just submitted Apps for Envoy, PSA, Endeavor, and Piedmont. My main focus is career progression. Building time fast and upgrading when the time is right. Commuting will be something that I’ll have to learn to live with. QOL would be second on the list as I believe the money will come eventually but as a new FO, we’re still digging the ditches.
Also what would be some of the commutes that would be considered do able without a struggle. From what I hear MIA to ATL is damn near impossible for a junior FO. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. |

You'll get ATL out of training if you go to SkyWest. You'll upgrade at 1000 121hrs and you'll be able to stay in ATL, even when you upgrade.

I have been very happy at skywest. I almost went to a few of the others and glad I didn't. I I commute to ATL out of central but pick up trips out of DTW, ORD and DFW for variety. Skywest Eastcoast is still very junior and movement is very fast. Best of luck

I feel your pain man. I am born and raised in Fort Lauderdale and hated the idea of never being home. Unfortunately, thats the profession. You have to endure the suck to some day make it back with a major, even then you may be a commuter. I'd say go to Envoy, sounds like the flow is an Ace in the back pocket. If what these guys are saying about a few months to hold MIA is the case, DO IT. Get a taste of what the commute life is like and enjoy it when you finally hold MIA.
I'd listen to Rick about Silver though, Jet>Prop etc. I do know prop guys that have moved to LCC's but whats worth more? Career progression or staying in your comfort zone. Really depends on your personal situation, wife kids etc. Good luck |
As of this month, new hires got MIA at Republic...
