I have mccPilotLog, but am trying to decide whether to by CrewLounge. Is there a way to try the new software?

You can only sync from mobile, too many issues doing it from PC. Works fine, import on phone or ipad then sync. Yur desktop version will sync with that. I admit, even for my airline the roster/trip import worked better with MCC. But there arn't many better alternatives out there if you use a PC. Like you saw with Safelog,they all kind of suck.

LogbookPro has been excellent about honoring and supporting the legacy original lifetime version of the software. It doesn't get new features like the newer subscription one, but it remains fully functional and supported. It also plays well with all their newer PDA apps like the new LogbookPro and Airline Pilot Daily Logbook.
If you are an active 121 line pilot I highly recommend the APDL app. It imports schedules from most platforms like Sabre, AIMS and FLICA. It monitors your 117 FTDT with warnings when stuff is getting close. Lets you play "what if" FTDT checking for trip trades, calculates your per diem, and if you take the time to set up all your different pay rules it will calculate your pay as well. When I was flying lines with 2-5 flights a day, frequent reassignments, lost days and all that stuff APDL was indispensable. I did program most of our work rates/rules so anytime my pay was more than about 5-10 bucks off I knew they messed up. They're website for all products is https://a.nc-software.com/aw.aspx?A=271 They also have an affiliate program. If you refer anybody you get credit or pay. It's the same price either way, so find another pilot and throw them a bone by clicking their link to buy go order/buy it. |

This will only be true until you are forced to upgrade your OS to an unsupported version regardless of provider...). Happens all the time, all software have an end of life date. |
The old MCC still works fine, I don't have any bugs (anymore). I'll keep using it because for one it works and two, for all I know, in a few months I may not have a job. At which point, I'll copy my electronic logbook to my old handwritten one and toss it in a safe deposit box.

Smart Logbook for android users is pretty good for a one time fee. Easy to use, backup, and produce reports.

APDL has serious syncing problems that I think stem way beyond fixing. It’s a great too for airline pilots, but not a great logbook tools in itself. Their duty calculator is cute but I really don’t see the point in it as most airlines have software that prevents this from happening anyways, to the point where it’s glaringly obvious if they try to pull something that you won’t need to pay for a 130$ duty calculator when you can just simply look and see that they scheduled you before your 10 hour rest
