We’d like to consider, in this industry at least. Mesa one of those airlines. A bottom of the barrel kinda airline. The lowest bidder. Theyre are sooo many better options than that place

What about JetSuiteX? They have a new PHX base. Check them out on the 135 forum. They operate as a public charter with scheduled flights using E135s.

Definitely a thought. Is the jump to a major just as easy from 135 as a regional 121?

Just curious, why not SkyWest?

That's definitely an option. Seems like pay and flight time are better at Mesa. That's from the outside looking in though, I could be wrong.

I would look at Skywest and even JetSuiteX (honestly if they had been in their current position a year ago, I would have thought very long and hard about applying there). You won't get PHX right off the bat at Skywest or at Mesa, but even at skywest the time is coming down. I got PHX about 6 months after my checkride (after watching it slowly drop historically from 2 years, to 18 months, to about a year). Some people even junior to me got in during that same vacancy bid.

I take it you're with SkyWest now. I'd love to hear your thoughts on culture, work life, etc. Feel free to PM if you prefer

Generally, no.

The applications usually break out 121 time. But in this case, they're basically a tiny regional operating RJ's so I think it would be a wash. Except that when the computer scores your app it won't see any 121. But at an interview it should all be good.

Mesa and CommuteAir are the lowest paid regionals. We probably made more during the 300% era but that’s over for now. Mesa isn’t too bad it’s just that every other place is better. I think upgrade time is low everywhere which was Mesa’s main draw for a while and still kinda understaffed so reserve time isn’t too long. Speaking of reserve it does suck really bad here the company puts you on airport ready reserve everyday.

Could you expand on this... could PM if that’s better. I’m researching my choices as I prepare to retire from military. I see this kind of statement often, but would like to know why you feel that way.

there’s a reason they MUST offer a bonus to attract pilots.
