It definitely happens. But I think you may have to voluntarily exit the flow program in order to apply and/or interview to AA outside of flow? Not sure about that last though.

Keep in mind at Envoy as soon as you hit 1000 121 time you are forced to upgrade. Which will more than likely be to NYC where you will sit reserve for years. Also, it looks like right now the flow is around 8-9 years. It is possible to get picked up outside of the flow, but you are going to have to have lots of TPIC and that means commuting to reserve for years while you don't fly much.
DFW at Skywest is attainable after 2 months off IOE and a line after 6 months. It's been a while since they did forced upgrades, and the most junior vacancy awarded last time was DFW 145 CA. |
As dera said, forced upgrades are no longer the case anymore at Envoy. New York has started to actually become more senior (so no you won't get displaced there).

100% incorrect. You cannot exit the flow program. They do hire from WO's. Not often, but it does happen.

Maybe it was the previous flow program, they told me that when I interviewed at eagle in a previous era.

That was 10+ years ago. The flow is contractual to all pilots right now. You can skip it indefinitely (if you want to be a lifer), but you can't opt out from it. And you can apply outside it with no restrictions.

Got the CJO from both, but just soliciting advice on which to pick as i'll be in the next class for either one!
(Unless I want to start at ABX flying the 76 until UPS/FedEx calls (as high on list as the goal of AA)...they base out of CVG which could be about the same type of commute as to the bases for the other two). |

I'm a prior mil guy with 4,000TT / 2,000 TPIC already and guess I need a touch of recency/121 time to get a major to call as I've been available for a couple months so far with no luck and dwindling currency. They offered the NDEC/DEC bonus, but sure hope to not be there long enough for these offers.

I flew heavy cargo and trainers. Had a Delta bud just tell me today that my luck will be i'll start in the next few weeks at someplace and then i'll start getting calls from everybody to interview putting me in a bind during training not wanting to jeopardize a current job while hoping to pass the interviews! I guess there's worse problems in life if this happens.
Still looking to hear what anybody knows about AA plucking out a person from their WO? |

As a prior mil guy, which regional you do a touch and go at doesn't really matter. The important thing is getting recurrent and checking all the boxes on the app. AA has picked up prior mil guys from their WO, but it doesn't seem to be at any greater rate than they picked up prior mil guys from Skywest, Republic, etc.
Some mil guys get stuck, don't forget that. We had a bunch of former military guys in my new hire class, some of them didn't cash in the new hire bonus. Guess what - after 12 months post-IOE, not a single one has moved on. So they lost a ton of money already because of it. |
