This is exactly why you go somewhere you wouldn’t mind being stuck at for an extended period of time.

I have to agree with this. In my experience (9/11-Lost Decade) regional life still sucked but it was a somewhat stable job with opportunities to add to a resume.

Of course, this isn’t 9/11 and the music may be a lot different this time. Best of luck to all.

Thanks for the replies everyone. As for now I’ve decided to hold off on starting training to see how everything pans out. I currently have a fairly stable DoD job that’s still paying the bills. I could technically start flight training soon, but am going to wait and see how this COVID-19 affects the industry. While I would never be upset about being stuck at a regional for about 25 years of my flying life left, that might not even be an option when this is over. Best of luck to you guys out there.

Trust me, you dont want to spend 25 years at a regional.

Also nothing wrong with getting your private in the mean time. It is the hardest/longest rating typically to get. The rest goes a lot quicker once you get it. You may decide after that flying is not for you. Or, if the airline thing doesn't work out you may love GA flying and have a great hobby for years to come.
