COVID-19 Concessions

Just wanted to see if airlines have started coming to the pilot groups for concessions of any kind.

A *common* consensus among major pilots who lived through it last time is don't give concessions because that will just be used as a lower set-point when they file BK... better to lose 40% of 100%, rather than 40% of 60%.

Apparently there's no legal mechanism for a "snap-back" provision which would survive a BK filing... courts will only care what your pay was going in, they won't care how you got there.

9E wanted a delayed bid for April. In return, we got pay/occurrence protection for many COVID-19 related absences.

Remember, it's a negotiation.

SkyWest accepted a reduced monthly guarantee in exchange for a 50 hour paid leave program and a suspension of the reliability requirements for a very broad range of COVID-19 related issues, among a few other things. I'm sure every airline is in negotiations with their unions about how to handle this situation.

I'm new to the industry and can't obviously tell if we got a good deal or not . What's your opinion?
I mean, if it comes to this or furloughed, then sure, it's awesome

Mesa moves our bid period back with nothing in exchange, pay protection would have been nice. Mesa is very relaxed on sick calls so at this point no need for extra protection on occurrences.

Envoy MEC says we should just fly, fly, fly and let them change our schedules as they see fit. We are to just accept it and move forward because it isn’t their fault.

completely bow to what managment wants.

I'm pretty thrilled with it so far. Get paid 50 hours instead of getting furloughed? Money has to come in to go out though, so I'm very interested to see what the final numbers from DAL and AAL are.

Yes, that is the best deal out there right now out of all the Regionals. 50 hours to sit home all month? Where do I sign up? And they are the ones without a Union, go figure?
