New Mesaba CRJ Routes
With all the new CRJ's (200/900) Mesaba is getting, any idea what routes they will be flying? (I have heard that the 900's first day in service will be June 7 and will be flown MSP-DFW-MSP-FAR-MSP-MDW-MSP.) Wondering if any XJ insiders had any info.

They will mostly be flying the routes of Northwest's DC-9's that are being phased out in the near future. Anywhere a DC-9 goes is fair game I believe.
|
They'll just be picking up where the AVRO's left off...
|
IHate...do you think there is a good chance of XJ exercising options for more than 36 CR9's?

fair game?? wow. i know some of these 900's are taking some mainline routes and there isn't much we can do about it, but calling it fair game is a little,,, well you know what i am about to say. and i think everyone on here agrees.

I am all for more mainline planes, especially in a city like chicago. We do DTW MDW in the 50 seater and its stupid, its even stupid for a 76 seat jet. Chicago could be all 757s and still be full 75 % of the time

According to a dispatcher at mesaba the new routes are direct replacement for a lot of current DC-9 routes. I don't know if they are low demand routes or not, but I hate seeing jobs that could of put us up to mainline be pushed to us.

Now re the thread. Regionals are getting more and more 76-90 seat airplanes; it's a difficult trend to stop. How would limiting Mesaba (and not all regionals) to 36 CRJ900s benefit "the industry." |
How would limiting Mesaba (and not all regionals) to 36 CRJ900s benefit "the industry." Now we have management at all these airlines farming out flying to improve the bottom line without any concern about what having a company like mesa may do to their branding, or without any concern about their employees. At the regional level, you got guys that are salivating at the chance of flying something bigger, without thought of what it means down the line for them. The regional jet should have stayed at 50 seats; imagine how many folks would be flying at a major/legacy right now! |

Saabaroowski. Welcome back. We missed your advise and council. I understand inflation in the Italian red wine industry is rampant because of you consumption while visiting. I hope my investment in "Old Pizano" pays off.

Not knowing where the AVRO's were in the first place (sorry for my ingorance), or where the '9's go now, what might the route structure look like? More mid-west routes, east coast, or maybe the mountain west? Maybe Canada or Mexico?
