The true demise of our society...Justin Bieber and social media. When I was in public safety we never had these dumb challenges,or the “thank me for my service” mentality. We just did our jobs, collected a check and went home.

But what we do is necessary, 50% of my pax last week were US congressmen or senators. Lot's of LEOs too. Those guys need to be doing business both in DC and at home. I know who they are because the company tells us. Most of the rest of the pax look like professionals on business travel, presumably supporting something essential. There are a few maskless backback toting millennials who are obviously taking advantage of a cheap vacation opportunity. But that doesn't mean the other pax aren't doing something important. I think the people that are flying saw cheap airfare and are visiting family at their homes. I fly for a mostly business traveler airline and I haven’t seen business travelers.... No one has told me they are a doctor or nurse in the conversations I’ve had, and none have been in scrubs.... Congress is, and has been, in recess. And will be until at least May 4th. The vast majority of the flying we are doing is not essential. If it was, they would fly one flight between city pairs a day, and not lower prices. Because the demand is there for people that “have to fly” and the cheap tickets are only going to pull out those who really don’t. Justify what we’re doing however you must, but the facts paint the picture that we’re flying mostly people who don’t need to be flying, surely spreading the virus and allowing people to go against CDC guidelines to the greatest extent possible: flying across the country packed in close quarters with strangers from all over. |

I haven’t noticed “Backpack toting millennials”. You know everything is closed right? Even beaches? There’s nothing to do anywhere. No one is going on vacation, and you’re spreading stuff you probably read on Facebook because you guys just love to hate on a specific generation for whatever reason. It’s almost like a fetish for you guys how obsessed you are.

Also have younger, hipper looking people obviously geared up for some sort of excursion. Personally I'm just fine with that, they're probably doing something outdoors (zero risk to anyone). The rest are professional looking people, presumably on some business or other, I give them the benefit of the doubt that they're essential. Loads have been higher last week than in the few prior weeks. Not high by any means but higher, maybe all due to schedule reductions. Or we could just ban all travel without prior government approval, requested in triplicate, with a $150 non-refundable filing fee, 120 days in advance. Would kind of suck if you're in a crowded hospital and the extra staff shifts had to wait for approval to travel. |

I've definitely had congress critters because they tell us when they're on board... seem to be transiting between DC and home districts.

Anyways, Millennials have grown up with 9/11, recession, 20 years of war, high education and housing costs, and now this. Give us a break man. |

You’re picking on millennials but the only people I know planning travel right now is my 60 year old mother and her 3 sisters. They’re “going crazy” being stuck at home and are heading to Vegas. I see way more white haired folks in these west coast airports than I do young ones.

Hair styles, less deadly nicotine inhalation, and personal image (really should fall in the same category as man bun but I’ll let you have it). Nice!
*as for the “endless college debt”.....that’s optional. And you can blame greedy institutions more than a generation of people who lived before you. |

THANK YOU!
Sometimes we carry medical personnel, sometimes we carry medical supplies, but the vast majority of the time we are just allowing people to travel all over the country. Just like the experts say we shouldn't. It's a joke to act like we're the hero in this story. Agreed, no heroes in the pilot ranks right now. The only thing I’ve seen that’s close is cargo pilots. They are the only ones flying to China right now and bringing home our daily life-saving/life-improving medications (heart meds, diabetes, purple pills, etc). Normally not heroic, but when you consider the conditions, it is admirable - increased chance of infection, highly intrusive swab testing by questionably trained Chinese techs, locked down in layover hotel rooms for days on end, food options extremely limited, constant revisions, extended trips and the granddaddy of all- a possible “positive” test while in China and being dragged off to a government quarantine center.... |

yeah, college debt is nothing new and nothing is forcing you to got to a 50,000 a semester college to get a degree in gender studies. It's more of an issue of people getting useless degrees then anything else.
College debt is nothing new. $60,000 tuition certainly is. I have to say, someone not knowing basic grammar and knocking any type of higher education makes my insides fuzzy |

$60,000 tuition without a scholarship is a choice, just like all the worthless degrees you millennials like to get. There are many fine collages, especially if you take in state tuition, that you can attend that won't cost you an arm and a leg. But that would be too "obvious" so you go the more obscure unnecessary/expensive route because you want to be "different". Then you complain when you are still living with mom at 26 and blame it on participation trophies or whatever because it is never your fault. You'll get over the grammar, it is an internet message board dude chill out. Plus when somebody brings it up it is the first sign they know they lost an argument. :)

Flying a 170 at 40 is the living in your parents basement at 26 of the airline world. |

the six most common degrees are in business, nursing, psychology, biology, engineering, and education. very few get degrees in basket weaving. in any case, college is far more expensive (even at state schools) than it was for boomers, rent is far more expensive than it was for boomers, home ownership is more expensive than it was for boomers, healthcare is more expensive than it was for boomers, and pay for graduates is lower than it was for boomers. objectively, millennials get paid less for the same work, and have to pay more for a comparable standard of living. but ya, millennials deserve it cause they are quirky and like things that you don't like boomers just don't want to admit how much easier they had it |

So what you’re saying is you wasted a bunch of money on a degree you aren’t using? btw, nobody believes you fly for anything other than a Regional. 2020 ID and you spend 90% of your time on the Regional boards. |

On the contrary, I am secure for the rest of my life because of it no matter what happens to the airline industry. The investment has paid for itself many times over. That's what happens when one makes smart decisions in life. It gives them the security to pursue their dreams later on if that is the road they want to take.

You guys forget that we are on the same team. No one is responsible for anything merely by virtue of their birth year.
Here’s a tip for you: If you have enough time to go on forums and blame another generation for your troubles, you’re probably part of the problem. Doing so is the opposite of taking responsibility. |
