The true demise of our society...Justin Bieber and social media. When I was in public safety we never had these dumb challenges,or the “thank me for my service” mentality. We just did our jobs, collected a check and went home.

But what we do is necessary, 50% of my pax last week were US congressmen or senators. Lot's of LEOs too. Those guys need to be doing business both in DC and at home. I know who they are because the company tells us. Most of the rest of the pax look like professionals on business travel, presumably supporting something essential.

There are a few maskless backback toting millennials who are obviously taking advantage of a cheap vacation opportunity. But that doesn't mean the other pax aren't doing something important.

I haven’t noticed “Backpack toting millennials”. You know everything is closed right? Even beaches? There’s nothing to do anywhere. No one is going on vacation, and you’re spreading stuff you probably read on Facebook because you guys just love to hate on a specific generation for whatever reason. It’s almost like a fetish for you guys how obsessed you are.

I think the people that are flying saw cheap airfare and are visiting family at their homes. I fly for a mostly business traveler airline and I haven’t seen business travelers....

No one has told me they are a doctor or nurse in the conversations I’ve had, and none have been in scrubs....

Congress is, and has been, in recess. And will be until at least May 4th.

The vast majority of the flying we are doing is not essential. If it was, they would fly one flight between city pairs a day, and not lower prices. Because the demand is there for people that “have to fly” and the cheap tickets are only going to pull out those who really don’t.

Justify what we’re doing however you must, but the facts paint the picture that we’re flying mostly people who don’t need to be flying, surely spreading the virus and allowing people to go against CDC guidelines to the greatest extent possible: flying across the country packed in close quarters with strangers from all over.

Just terrible. I miss the days of people just posting a nice sunset picture with an inspirational quote.

It is the human condition. Social media is bringing to light what would otherwise be an insidious undercurrent. All you see and despise on social media has existed for a long time within people. The false sense of security produced by the veil of a Facebook interface brings out people’s narcissistic proclivities.
...Something they would be trying to hide in real social interaction with varying success.

I've definitely had congress critters because they tell us when they're on board... seem to be transiting between DC and home districts.

Also have younger, hipper looking people obviously geared up for some sort of excursion. Personally I'm just fine with that, they're probably doing something outdoors (zero risk to anyone).

The rest are professional looking people, presumably on some business or other, I give them the benefit of the doubt that they're essential.

Loads have been higher last week than in the few prior weeks. Not high by any means but higher, maybe all due to schedule reductions.

Or we could just ban all travel without prior government approval, requested in triplicate, with a $150 non-refundable filing fee, 120 days in advance. Would kind of suck if you're in a crowded hospital and the extra staff shifts had to wait for approval to travel.

Truth. Reminds me, my captain once told me, I hope one day I don't have a trip with a type A feminist. The stewardess has no place in my cockpit. I already deal with enough complainers and whiners. :)

You’re picking on millennials but the only people I know planning travel right now is my 60 year old mother and her 3 sisters. They’re “going crazy” being stuck at home and are heading to Vegas. I see way more white haired folks in these west coast airports than I do young ones.

Anyways, Millennials have grown up with 9/11, recession, 20 years of war, high education and housing costs, and now this. Give us a break man.

Trigger much? Not picking on anyone, that's just what I see at the airport. As I said I don't blame them, or have a problem with it. I'm not an advocate of the lockdowns.

They can force our country to fight endless wars and crash our economy with extremely reckless financial behavior, but gosh darn it you eat avocado toast. That’s a mortal sin. Here’s some endless college debt as punishment.

Man-buns, vaping, and being dorky for the sake of “irony”.........means you get no breaks from us.
