I saw this video clip on another website: filecabi.net.

I encourage everyone here to read the comments about the video posted by people who frequent that website.

The things people come up with to explain what they're seeing in this video will blow your mind!

A couple quotes:

"they can change the angle on the rotor blades to make them float to safty in case of engine failiure. Not only does it help them "float" down, it can be used for other things also.

just took an aviation class, and witnessed it live, was pretty damn sweet."

"1) It's not a chopper, it's a toy on a string with chopper sound added

2) It's digitally manipulated. You only see the sky and clouds behind it and no trees or other points of reference."

Mind you, this is not at all an aviation website, but its pretty incredible that people 'think' they know about aviation related things.

Easy to explain. The "refresh rate" (the rate at which the camera takes new pictures) matched the period of totation of the rotor. So it appears that the rotor is stationary. The proof is that the tail rotor is moving, but very slowly since it spins at a different RPM.
