American Eagle information/interview
I see that American Eagle is having a job fair in Chicago in about 2 weeks and was wondering if it will be worth my time. I have 215tt and 51mult Eagle wants 800tt and 100mult. Being a fresh out of college person I thought it might be valuable to just get some interview experience (I'd be driving 3 hours to get to the interview), maybe? Anyone think I've got a chance at landing a job? Let me know what you think.

Not a chance with those times LoL...but it's always a good idea to show your face. I went to a job-fair well under min's and got turned down for an interview. Home two days later and I had an interview invitation in the Inbox...Just show them your face and smile a lot!

You're not going to get the job but it couldn't hurt. I know a number of people that were granted interviews at various airlines/135 ops with low time and at the conclusion of the interview recieved a reply something like "we'd like you to join us...when you get more time".
Instruct for a year and learn how to fly. The jets will still be shiny if you do. |
You wont get a job interview, but like the others have said its worth going just to make connections and show your face. Depending on which college you went to, you might be able to get in with 400/100. Ask them about this when you go.

There is no secret handshake or networking required to get hired by a regional these days. I would not go to the job fair because it could show that you are not intune with the requirements of the company you are seeking employment with. If the requirement is 800tt and 100 multi, than that is what it is. Unless you go to a college who has a bridge program with Eagle and lower tt time is accepted. Don't waste your or the recruiters time if you don't meet the requirement.

I wonder how many pilots wouldn't have jobs if they took your advice. How many people have gotten hired below mins here? Any takers? Using your logic...none.

I work for Eagle and I can tell you that you won't work here unless you meet the mins of 800tt and 100 multi, or the mins for the bridge programs. It isn't a popularity contest otherwise, I wouldn't have gotten hired. To take it one step farther lets say you attended a job fair for Eagle in Chicago and you spoke to a recruiter. You didn't meet the mins then, hence you didn't get hired in Chicago. You attend an Eagle job fair two weeks later in ??? Michigan and you speek to the same recruiter. Is he going to hire you now even though you still don't meet the mins and he remembers you from Chicago...NO. Thats not to say that he won't remember you six months from now having now the mins to get hired. Lets be realistic and leave the dreaming to those who don't know better...
