I have a wife and young daughter, and the move to a regional would be a 50% pay cut first year just going off of monthly guarantee.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? I feel like if I'm not flying, the world is passing me by. However, a 50% pay cut is a kick in the teeth.

I’m in the same boat as you. Large cabin Part 91 flying 1 or 2 trips per month for a principal that is closing in on 80 years old. I’m jumping to the regionals this fall for a 50% pay cut. If 121 winds up not being the right fit then I could go back to 91 after a few years and be better set up for a better Part 91 position with the additional experience. If 121 is the right fit then I’ll be in the right position for a better 121 job. 100 hours a year isn’t going to set me up for anything. I say make the jump.

"serious question: is your wife stupid?"

most women are stupid.

How old are you? But I would do it and don’t look back unless you
want to stay at the job and have to look for another job when they sell the plane. Get to the regionals, upgrade ASAP, apply to any major and that one time 50% payout will
easily be worth it and you will be kicking yourself for not going to the regionals a lot earlier in your life and already being at a major by the time your kid was born.

You should hit the regional, fly your tail off, and apply to every ulcc in the mean time as an FO. You're not too old to make the jump. Go to the place where you'll fly alot and upgrade immediately at 1000hrs 121 time. You need a seniority number on a Boeing or Airbus asap.

I would go to the regionals if I was in your shoes. I have enough total time and turbine PIC time that I think I can hold out for a ULCC/LCC. Also my corporate job isn't horrible, and I am pretty confident its secure, so right now I am able to be a little picky. But we all know how aviation is....
