Reserve

I would like to move to Denver. However the only airlines that are based out there are Republic? SkyWest, Horizon, Mesa, and Great Lakes. I would like to get on with a carrier when Im done with my degree in Jan. Right now Im just thinking of my options. I dont want to work for Mesa or Great Lakes and most likely wont have the time for Skywest, Republic, or Horizon (450-30) . How hard would it be to commute while on reserve or while having a line. Should I pick a company that has a base close? I dont know. Ive been thinking about X-JET, ASA, Eagle. The school I instruct at has agreements to lower mins with these airlines. Any info would help. Thanks.

A code share with an airline? That's a damn impressive flight school.

it just reduces minimums for tt and multi

I should have mentioned that you have to take their jet course.

Actually codeshares allow airlines to list other airlines flights as their own. For example, CAL flight 1547 might codeshare with COPA as flight 7547. Its airline marketing, has nothing to do with flight schools.

PS
Commuting out of DEN/COS on CAL to IAH will be damn near impossible. One of the toughest commutes out there from what i hear. Will probably get easier as some of the old timers start to medical out, turn 60/65, etc. But thats a long time to wait. I'm sure you've heard it before but the best way to improve your quality of life at any airline is not to commute.

I commuted out of DEN to IAH for XJET. Of course at XJT you may get EWR, CLE, SAT, ONT, or LAX as your base. LAX and IAH would be your best bet if you are going to commute. You want the good, the bad, and the ugly, PM me. From a pure QOL (quality of life standpoint) and nothing else, XJET might be your best bet if you are going to commute to RSV. I could be wrong, but ASA has 10 days off for reserve. Again, I could be wrong, so any ASEA guys let me know. XJET has 11 in a 30 day bid period, 12 in a 31 day bid period. If you can hold the long call or the 12 noon call out, it can be two end commutable. In other words, no giving up any days off. A buddy of mine is with MESA in DEN and was on RSV. His QOL was WORSE living in base on RSV than mine being a lineholder and commuting. He sometimes did 10+ days in a row, with the 24 hs in 7 days given on a layover.

I can't speak for Eagle.
