What do we do when Management stalls w/contracts
 

PNCL is in the midst of contract nego.'s that are at a stalemate....I believe it is ASA that's been in negotiations over 4 years now. PNCL sits at just over 2years. My question is what LEGAL actions could be taken to put pressure on management? One I've heard is take delay's....you can always explain them. Perhaps a safty letter could be sent out from the MEC to say don't be afraid to take delays for safty issues such as: not closing the door until the cargo is closed (many capt's close it early to help the #'s), taxi at a brisk walking pace (per the AIM I believe), confer with dispatch whenever weather is a concern, do not fly above filed speed and ask to be turned off route rather than speed up. These are the legal ways I came up with to stop going out of the way to help the company that refuses to give a new contract that is not only competitive now but will continue to be 5 years from now. We must do something as pilots. What works? What can we as ALPA REALISTICLY do?

Bad place for this discussion I believe. If you talk amongst yourselves I am sure you will find ways to 'fly by the book' if that's what you want to do. Keep in mind the ramifications of illegal job actions. Until we get a more labor friendly administration in office you will not have a leg to stand on, i.e. no opportunity for self help because the NMB will never release you to that point.

I feel for you brother and have been there. Get with your fellow pilots and have a plan, but everybody better be on board and it better be legal.

Best thing we as pilots can do, is not threaten, but to stand up for ourselves and GO ON STRIKE

Don't get me wrong, there are a few good things about the Bush White House but they have and are becoming increasingly tarnished.

As long as we have a Mgmnt sympathizing administration in office then ASA, 9E, MAG, UAL, NWA and any other labor group will not be allowed to strike, thus chopping off their “Balls.” It's sad but without the threat of a Strike then Mgmnt will carry out negotiations until Labor Group sympathizing administration is in office.

You try to strike without the protection of the RLA and see how long you stand. I guarantee that without that protection you'll get so few pilots to strike that you'll easily be sectioned out and fired. Remember that unions are only as good as the unity of their pilots and that unity is completely dependent upon the safety of the law. Without it your job is in jeopardy and that’s a lonely place.

Don't believe me? Talk to your MEC. I'm sure you'll get a few delusional pilots to say "Hell Ya, strike regardless" but when the time comes you'll be all alone on that picket line with a big target on your forehead.

I agree, if 90% of the pilot group were to strike on the other hand..............................

90% would be different but without the RLA to protect you Mgmnt would be in a tight place. They have the ability to fire those picketing but will be unable to replace that many pilots. Instead Mgmnt would probably fire a few to make a point, much like Kathy did with the "49ers."
