Colgan

Hey everyone,

How likely would it be for me to get a Tx base at Colgan, preferably TYR? What kind of trips are they out of there? Are they day trips (out and backs), or multi day trips? How is the QOL at Colgan now. I know before there was some not so good things to say about them, but how about now? Thanks for the help.

I was wondering the same with Colgan, except a IAH base?

KiloAlpha 06-10-2007 07:43 AM

Incoming......

Just go to XJET plain and simple.... It might take you a couple of bids but you will make out to IAH. Plus your W2 will make you :)

AlaskaOps 06-10-2007 08:45 AM

So theoredically though, say a pilot ends up at Colgan. Can they bid right into these cities. or end up in the northeast first?

dingo222 06-10-2007 08:48 AM

its all based on need, just like any other regional. Texas is pretty junior right now, so you may get it. All overnights out of tx for colgan

Baronpilot 06-10-2007 10:46 AM

Yeah, from what I have heard you can get your desired base relatively soon after your original assignment. (2-3 months)

4N1flyr 06-10-2007 10:55 AM

Colgan is all day trips, no per diem

Incorrect. IAH and PIT both have overnights. TYR had day trips last I heard.

I'm almost through training at Colgan, I just found out my base about two weeks ago. I bid IAH, TYR, then assorted places in the northeast. I ended up getting Jamestown, NY, which was pretty far down my list.

From everything I'm told, it doesn't take long at all to get the base you want, but who knows. It all depends on how much movement happens at that base, and how many people want it.

When did Colgan start the overnights in PIT? Are these the SYR turns?

KiloAlpha 06-10-2007 02:33 PM

The PIT crews overnight in either CKB or PKB. The overnights themselves do not take place in PIT.

OK, I was told no overnights at my interview, but that was probably because I would be staying in the northeast.

I'm pretty sure that's what they did with us, since guys junior to me got bases that were farther up on my list than what I got.

But, nobody from my class got IAH or TYR, so the rest really didn't matter. If somebody junior to me had been awarded IAH before me, then I'd be ****ed. As it is, it's no big deal. I'd have had to move either way.

Plus, if you aren't comfortable with the idea of moving around, you don't need to be an airline pilot.
