Default PSA Questions

I have an interview w/ PSA next Tuesday ...first I have been studying the gouges on aviationinterviews.com..Second, how commutable is it? I know they are a CASS participant, do they have a commuter clause ?? I live in Boston and would like to get CLT based if I hired there. Also, is there anygrowth I have been told yes and no. I know first year pay is a little low compared w AWAC, Eagle and Comair. How long is reserve?? I know they are cxl flight left and right due to lack of crews. And is it possible to get the CRJ 700 off the bat? Any other thoughts and advice is appreciated in advance. I also have interviews w TSA, ASA and then possibly AWAC, which is my first choice.
Thanks!!

Study hard for your first choice. If it's AWAC, then don't bother with the others. Use them only for interview experience. A few extra months spent during this phase will pay dividends for your longer term.

Thanks for the info Ellen, I am goign ot the interview for 2 reasons, one to keep my options open, and two, to get the interview experience under my belt. I am interested in what PSA has to say and offer though.

All the same take all of the interviews you go to seriously, How would you feel if you were about to go interview at your first choice only to find out that you didn't get the job at your backup? Besides if you don't prepare yourself well for any interview they may see you as un-motivated. Treat them all equally then hold out for your first choice. My two cents.

mregan,

I flew for PSA for about 2 years, commuting from BOS. Mostly it was OK. To get to DAY it was easiest to go on the Shuttle via DCA then AWAC to DAY. Always the day prior. To CLT was much easier; about 8 flts a day, all 757s and A320s.

However, reserve in CLT is forever. And ever. When I quit I was still on reserve in CLT. Crew scheduling does not tell you what your assignment is untill 1900 the day prior, which is too late to commute down if you have an early show. They also prefer to assign early shows on day 1, and late reserve on your last day. They will not tell you if you are assigned a trip until the last second, even if they know for certain 24 hours prior. Its not a good place.

The planes are good. The crews are good. The lines blow. Management blows. Scheduling blows. The hotels blow. Training is good. There is no growth. There were no upgrades the entire time I was there. FO's are leaving by the gross to go to other RJ operators.

Bottom line, unless you have to live in DAY or CLT, you don't want to work at PSA.

If you want to stay in BOS go to Eagle. Its the best there is here. If you don't have the times for Eagle, try Colgan or Big Sky. Feel free to PM me if you've got more questions.
