Exactly what I was thinking in regard to the contract. I would definitely consult an employment contract Attorney before signing anything. In fact, I would ask for a copy after passing the interview and before accepting if anyone is truely looking.

Don't forget the quality maintenance MESA planes will be receiving in China. Yikes.

Ha ha, what will he do next?! I think working for Cathay or Emirates would be a better deal, at least safer deal anyway.

They are doing that cause they are expecting the influx of hundreds of thousand of passengers next year for the olympics. I hear alot of Brazilian pilots are jumping in since the market down there has gone sour over the years.

I would also be very curious about regulations in China. Work rules, equivalant 'FARs', maintainance regs, etc.

FYI - I have a son who worked for EDS and lived in China for three years. Although an IT manager, he has a CMEL and basic understanding of the airline industry (brother is a Regional pilot). Have sent him a copy of the offer and asked for comments on QOL, income, etc. WIll pass on any comments I get.

FROM Person who lived there three years.

A single person would have a minimally acceptable QOL (living with or near other Americans or Europeans) at about $80,000 per year. Anything less and you will be forced to live "on the economy."
